Ulster Juvenile Championships Hard luck to our own Dylan McKenna who narrowly lost the Boys U17 Ulster 4-Wall Handball Singles Championship Final earlier today against Tyrone’s Padraig Fox in Breacach H.C. In what was a nail-biting final, Dylan lost in the tie breaker on a score line of 11-10. The final score for the match was 20-21, 21-15, 11-10. A fantastic achievement nonetheless to reach an Ulster Final and we’re sure we’ll see Dylan back on the courts in the not too distant future ready to bring home silverware!

Ulster Juvenile Championship Finals. The Ulster Juvenile finals took last Sunday in Beragh, after defeating Antrim on Saturday in the girls U12 Doubles semi-final Ava Mc Kenna & Beibhinn Mc Cluskey took on Tyrone pair of Emma Fox & Erin Curran, after been 13 nil down the girls got into serve and won 15-13, the 2nd game went Tyrone’s way as they won it 3-15, and so to the tie-breaker, our girls were winning 9-0, then Tyrone levelled 9-9, but our girls got back and lead 14-9 then Tyrone got back into serve, and in doing so won 15-14, this was a great effort from our girls but fell by the minimum, well played girls, our next club player in action was Odhran Mc Meel in the boys U13 singles, here he faced a hard hitting Down player in Sean Og Cowan, Odhran was leading 12-9 and playing well but after been put out of serve lost it 12-15, Odhran never panicked and knew he had to change his game and did so with some great passing and high wall and rood shots won the 2nd game 15-8, then going into the tie-breaker Odhran was full of confidence and it was evident in his play as he was pulling all the strings making his opponent move all around and won the 3rd 15-7 to secure his first Ulster title, the next club players in action was Dermott Mc Kenna & Daithi Mc Meel in the boys U16 Doubles, they faced Tyrone men Sean Kennedy & Ryan Mc Callan, our boys put in a valiant effort but just came up short on both game 21-11, 21-11, but next year these 2 will be a massive handful in the U17’s and will travel a longer road, as they were in action next door Myles Mc Meel represented the county in the boys U15 Singles, he was playing against Pearse Mc Donald of Tyrone, Myles gave a steady performance throughout but just never got into the stride that he was playing the last few weeks and was defeated 15-8, 15-9, the score doesn’t reflect the effort put in by Myles with some great rallies during both games, our final club player in action was Donnacha Mc Cluskey who partnered with Ethan Mc Carron (The Harps) in the boys U17 doubles took on Shea Colton & Ronan O Sullivan of Tyrone, been in a 15-1 lead our boys lost concentration and allowed the Tyrone men a foot hold before winning 21-17, but after a re-set Donnacha & Ethan entered the alley in a different frame of mind and within the first hand of serve won it 21-0 to win the title, not a bad day for the county as we also won the girls U12 title with Tegan Rhea Clerkin the Girls U17 Singles with Niamh Mc Elwain and the boys U16 Singles won by Calum Sherry, well done to all that won and also a commendable effort from all that took part.
