Well done: It is great to have Emyvale minors players on the Monaghan County minor panel, they are Matthew Finn, Johnnie Wright and Andrew Stewart. They were involved with Jim McGuigan cup last Saturday V Derry in Emyvale and even though Matthew scored 1-01 at full forward, Monaghan lost narrowly on the day 2-09 to 1-14. Good luck guys for the up and coming campaign with the county minors. Next Ulster League fixture is scheduled for Clones on Saturday 11th March v Armagh.

Juvenile players: great to see so many Emyvale lads who making good progress onto School team panels, Josh fields making the SEM Hurley team who are now into the Ulster QL action next week in the Maguire Cup competition. Harry Hamill who is on the SEM Brock Panel and Michaeil McKenna, Eoghan McKenna, Shane Mohan and Morgan Hackett who are on the Dalton cup Panel at present – wishing them every success for the season ahead

Handball: Congrats to our own Dylan McKenna who won his Ulster Semi Final match today against Antrim’s Ryan Garcia in Gort na Mona in Belfast this morning. Dylan won the match on a score line of 21-1, 21-7. Dylan now faces Tyrone’s Padraig Fox in the U17 Ulster Final which will be taking place on Sunday 5th March in Breacach H.C, Co. Tyrone at 1pm. We wish Dylan the very best of luck in the Final!!!

Refereeing: As we have been publicising recently, our Club and County are in dire need of referees. With the upcoming change back to even number age groups next year it will put even more strain on what already is a full calendar for referees. The move back to even number age groups will return an extra age group to the competitive ranks, starting at u12. With this in mind we ask anyone remotely interested in refereeing to contact a committee member to discuss it further. Suitable for parents, ex-players or young adults who want the match day

buzz in a slightly different format or even to simply just give back. Full training and advice will be given. Our own Niall ‘Mo’ Mc Kenna will also be available for ongoing help and assistance.

Monaghan Inter County Teams: What a weekend of action it was for our 2 competing Inter County Senior and Minor teams over the weekend. Our County Minor team, with Andrew, Matthew and Johnnie on the panel had a change of venue to Tully on Saturday where they faced off to a stern Derry side. A tough and tense encounter which unfortunately went the way of the visitors by a two point margin. On Sunday our County Senior squad hosted table toppers Roscommon in Clones. This was also a tense affair with a Monaghan team fully focused. The home side sized Roscommon up for much of the first half, before taking more control of the game in the second half and never looked like losing it. Once again our own Karl Gallagher wore the no.14 shirt with distinction and is really making himself a key part of this team, kicking a classy point. Next fixture is away to Galway this Sunday in Pearse Stadium, Salthill at 12:45pm. Lets hope the Monaghan supporters travel in numbers to help our county come home with some points. On Saturday Michael Hamill and the Monaghan u20 squad host Louth at 1pm in Castleblayney, in rd.3 of The Philly McGuinness Cup. This is a great development ground for what we hope will be the future County Senior players and it is well worth going to watch and support the lads on Saturday. We wish Karl and Michael the very best of luck this weekend
