Last Man standing competition.

There are still 27 remaining in the competition after round 6. However, with the tie breaker coming in to play, there is only a possibility of 8 winners. So good luck to all in the last round next weekend.

National League

Monaghan again failed to impress and suffered another loss against rivals Tyrone in Clones on Sunday last. It is now a must win game next Sunday in McHale Park against table toppers Mayo and in addition we will be looking for Tyrone to beat Armagh to survive in Division 1.

Monaghan Ladies

The girls made a great comeback to earn a well-deserved draw against Roscommon on Sunday last. With 6 minutes to go they were trailing by 5 points so this result will give them confidence for their last game away to Westmeath next Sunday. So well done to Kieran & all the team

Opening of Stand

What a great occasion for Currin GFC on Saturday last with the official opening of our spectator stand, presentation to our Treasurer Brian McCabe and that night presentation to our Reserve winning Team, followed by a night of dancing. We were honoured to have the President of the GAA Larry McCarthy in attendance together with our County chairman Declan Flanagan and members of the County executive. Despite the poor weather conditions, a great crowd turned out to witness this momentous occasion. The president presented Brian McCabe with his plaque for 65 years’ service as treasurer to Currin GFC. Both Brian and the President cut the ribbon and unveiled the official opening plaque. The County Chairman Declan addressed the crowd before the stand was officially blessed by Fr John McKenna. Our chairman John Connolly thanked all involved for making the day possible and to all the volunteers too numerous to mention, and presented the President with a plaque in memory of his visit to Currin. Aoife North then concluded the official opening with the singing of the National Anthem.

A special word of thanks must go to our Master of Ceremonies Hugo Clerkin who carried out the role in a professional and eloquent manner.

A underage blitz was happening on the field and it was great to see such large numbers which was duly noted by the President and County Chairman. This was then followed by a minor game between our amalgamated team with Clones St Tiernach Patricks against Rockcorry. It was a very entertaining game and we

came away with a win. Thanks to all at Rockcorry for facilitating this game at late notice.

Unfortunately due to poor pitch conditions our Senior challenge against Drumgoon had to be cancelled much to the disappointment of all. Thanks again to Drumgoon team and management.

That concluded the daytime events and then it was to that night to present our winning reserve team with their medals. The players received their medals from the Manager at time Kieran Kearns. A special presentation was made to Kieran for his support and commitment to the Currin club by the winning captain Niall McEntee.

Then it was time to relax and enjoy the dancing to the fabulous Lime lite to the early hours of the morning.

Thank you to all who supported us in any way, buying tickets, voluntary donations etc. It is very much appreciated. Once again thank you to each and every one of the volunteers that made the day possible again to numerous to mention but proud to be part of history.

Referees.

We are actively looking to recruit referees as to date we have no one in the club and going forward we must have at least one. Full training will be provided. This position is open to both Male & Females, and you are paid each time you referee a game. This may be of interest to students, or any one with a few free hours at the weekend. Please spread the word and if any interest please Contact Club Secretary on email secretary.currin.monaghan@gaa.ie

Reserves

Our reserve team are scheduled to play Castleblaney this Saturday at 5pm in Scotshouse. Please come out and support the lads.
