Ulster Senior Football Club League Round 5

Our Senior Blues next play Donaghmore GAA in Roslea Shamrocks on Tuesday 14th March at 8:00pm. Thanks to Roslea Shamrocks for kindly hosting the game. In the Ulster Senior League we have been drawn in Group D with fellow County club Latton O’Rahilly GAA, Lavey GAA from County Derry, Ballymacnab GAA from Armagh and Donaghmore GAA from Tyrone. Results and Fixtures are as follows Lavey GAA 0-6 Scotstown GAA 1-5 Sunday February 12th; Scotstown GAA 1-11 Ballymacnab GAA 2-8 Kilmore Saturday 18th February; Latton GAA 1-12 Scotstown GAA 1-8, Corduff Thursday 23rd February; Scotstown GAA v Donaghmore GAA in Roslea Tuesday 14th March at 8:00pm. Allianz Division 1 National Football League Round 5 Result: Monaghan 0-10 Galway 1-13

Hard luck to the Monaghan team in their 1-13 to 0-10 away defeat to Galway in Salthill on Sunday last and to our Blues who played Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Conor McCarthy, and Ryan O’Toole, with superb scores from Rory Beggan (0-4 from free, overall top scorer) and Conor McCarthy (0-1 from free).

Allianz Division 1 National Football League Round 6

Monaghan are next playing Tyrone at home in Clones on Sunday 19th March at 1:45pm. All the best to our Blues on the County panel, Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Jack McCarron, Conor McCarthy, Michael McCarville, and Ryan O’Toole, and the rest of the Monaghan team, and the management. Ulster Minor Football League – Jim McGuigan Cup

All the best to our Blues on the minor panel, Donnchadh Connolly, Darcy Foy, Sean og McElwain, Max Maguire, Tommy Mallen, and the Monaghan team and management against Armagh at home in the Ulster Minor Football League Group B Round 3 game this Saturday March 11th at 12:00 noon in Clones.

Monaghan Under 20 Development League

Well done to our Blues on the U20 panel, Mark McPhillips and Sean Treanor, and the Monaghan U20 team and management in their 1-14 to 0-12 win over Louth at home in Round 3 of the U20 Development League on Saturday last in Castleblayney.

Monaghan LGFA Minors

Well done to our Blues on the Minor girls Monaghan LGFA panel Katie McCaffrey, Ella McKenna, and Eabha Sherry, and the team and management in their 9-15 to 5-5 win over Antrim in the Ulster Minor Championship Tier 1 Round 1 on Saturday last. They next play Armagh away on Saturday April 1st at 2pm

Monaghan U16 Girls

Well done to our Blues on the Monaghan U16 girls panel, Trea MacCinna, Caoimhe Kelly, Michaela Grew and Shannon Corrigan, and the U16 team and management in their 3-7 to 1-11 win away to Armagh in the Ulster U16 Championship Tier 1 Round 2 game on Saturday last. They next play Tyrone away on Saturday 15th April at 2pm.

Monaghan U14 Girls panel

Congratulations to our Under 14 player Brannagh Connolly, who is on the Monaghan U14 Team for 2023. Best wishes to all players and management for the season ahead.

Reserves Men Season Commences this Sunday.

Our Junior Reserves 2023 season commences this Sunday at 2:00pm in Kilmore when they play Killeevan at home in the Platinum Tanks Reserve League Football Division 3A Round 1 game. Our Senior Reserves commence their season with an away game to Latton on March 18th at 5:00pm in the Division 1A Round 1 fixture. We wish the teams and managements all the best.

Senior Ladies season commences this Sunday

Our senior ladies 2023 season commences this Sunday 12th March against Aughnamullen at home in Kilmore in the Senior Ladies Reserve League Round 1 game. Time TBC. We wish our senior ladies and the management the very best.

Our Blues Upcoming Competitive Fixtures for the Week

On Sunday 12th March our Junior Reserves play Killeevan at home in Kilmore in the Platinum Tanks Reserve League Football Division 3A Round 1 game at 2:00pm and our Senior Ladies play Aughnamullen in the Senior Ladies Reserve League Round 1 game at home in Kilmore. Time TBC

The Big Prediction Quiz

We are having the popular Prediction Competition Quiz from previous years for this year’s National Football League games which commenced a few weeks ago.

First overall prize is €1,000, plus a weekly prize of €100 for score of the week.

Prizes = 1st €1,000, 2nd €500, 3rd, €200. Tied scores will split the prize money

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €5,100!!

Thanks to everyone involved in our online lotto draw for a €5,000 jackpot on Wednesday 8th March. Please see our Social Media platforms for more details of the results.

In the March 1st draw there was no Jackpot winner this week. Numbers drawn on the night were 8 9, 25, 2. We had 1 Match 3 winner who wins € 100 – Patricia Mc Crudden.

We also had 3 Lucky Dip winners this week of € 20 each. They were Austin Corrigan, Helen Mallen and Aidan Mc Carra. The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €5,100. If no jackpot winner €100 is rolled over to the following week. Also if there is no jackpot winner there will be lucky dips. Next draw is March 15th at 8:30pm.

Membership 2023 – Registration night Thursday 9th March

We are having a registration night in the complex this Thursday evening 9th March from 7.30pm. Membership 2023 – 10% Discount off all memberships if paid before 31st March

We are giving a 10% reduction in fees to all members. The code is applied at checkout on our Clubforce app.

A parent must register with anyone under the age of 18, therefore you will be required to include an “Adult non-playing” to the basket.

U16 Coffee Morning

The Under 16 girls are going to have a coffee morning on Sunday 2nd April from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the Scotstown complex. All welcome and drop in for some coffee and support the girls.

Social Club open

The Social Club is open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9pm. Bar Rota: Evelyn Boylan and Padraig Columb.

Trad night 16th March

On Thursday 16th March, St Patricks Eve, there is live music in the Social Club bar, why not kick off your St Patricks Day celebrations early with Ceolinn. Thanks to everyone involved in the trad session on Thursday night last in the Social club.

Under 12 Girls Training

U12 girls training will start this Friday 10th March in Knockatallon Astros from 7pm to 8pm.

Our Condolences

Scotstown GAA wish to extend our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Philomena, John, Michelle, David, Joey, Sonia and the extended family and friends of Pauric Foy, on the sad untimely passing of Pauric. Pauric played juvenile football with our club. May Pauric’s gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Many thanks to Deirbhile Sherry, dietician from Tydavnet, for the superb and informative Nutrition and Gaelic Football presentation to the U14 and U16 girls last night. Brilliant talk from one of our own senior players. As part of our healthy club initiative we are having a nutritional talk for U14 to U16 girls and U13 to U15 boys and their parents. Derbhile will be presenting her talk to the U13 and U15 boys next week.

Acornlifemonaghan Scór na nÓg 2023 – County Finals

Beidh babhta ceannais Scór na nÓg ar siúl an tseachtain seo chugainn. Next weekend see’s the return of our Scór na nÓg county final. Tráth na gCeist will take place in the Acorn Centre in Newbliss on Friday 10th March at 7.30pm with Stage events taking place in Clontibret Community Centre on Sunday 12th March at 5.00pm.

Admission is only €5️ into the stage events with U16s and OAPs Saor in Aisce (free of charge) – Please make the effort to come and show your support for these talented young people who will ensure a brilliant night’s entertainment! Scaipigí an scéal.
