The past few days has seen Monaghan’s top handballers flourish on the fine courts of Kingscourt Handball Club in County Cavan amongst other venues across the Province with the Ulster 4-Wall Handball Championships Finals in full flow. Yesterday, Sunday 26th February saw Bawn’s Gavin Coyle win the Men’s Intermediate Ulster Handball Title after a tremendous battle against Tyrone’s Ryan Mullan. Coyle won the title after a cracking tiebreaker on a final scoreline of 21-16 17-21 11-9. Well done Gavin!

The Ulster U21 Singles Final was an all Monaghan affair and indeed all Harps Club affair, with Szymon Polewski taking on Tiarnan O’Rourke in the Final. O’Rourke won the title on a final scoreline of 21-13 21-5 – Well done to both – a great achievement for both to reach the Ulster Final & indeed Congratulations to Tiarnan on winning the title!

On Friday evening last, Tydavnet’s Paul Cassidy took on Cavan’s Dominic Sheridan in the Diamond Masters A Singles Ulster Final, with Cassidy bringing the title home to the Farney county on a scoreline of 21-6, 21-2.

St Mellan’s Handballer John Treanor did his club and county proud in Kingscourt yesterday (Sunday) by beating Armagh’s Martin McLean in his Diamond Masters B Singles Ulster Final on a scoreline of 21-6 21-9.

A great day all round for Monaghan Handball – well done to all involved and a big thank you to the Ulster Committee and the club volunteers across the province that have hosted fixtures over the last few weeks!
