Toome Club Notes 09.02.23

By Majella Boyd Wed 8th Feb

Gary Casey Fundraiser: Huge thanks to all who took part in the 6k Walk/Run on Sunday last, 5th February 2023. This was a very worthy cause and the support from local GAA clubs, running clubs and the wider community was overwhelming. The essential funds raised will help with his long journey of rehabilitation and treatment to aid his recovery from this life changing accident. This treatment will hopefully enhance Gary’s independence, improve bodily function and ultimately a return to work in some capacity. Thanks to all who made donations, registered and made a contribution to this great cause. Congratulations to the winners of the race on the day. Female – 1st – Nicola Flanagan, 2nd – Grace Hughes, 3rd – Emma McGuigan. Male – 1st – Darragh Scott, 2nd – Aidan McDonnell, 3rd – Ryan McMahon. Thanks to McElroy Awards for the sponsorship of trophies.

Volunteers: Thank you to our unique volunteers who helped with the Gary Casey fundraiser on Sunday last, from the organising committee, stewards, servers, marshals, An Garda Síochána, car park attendants, cleaners and all who assisted with the food preparations, Meeting House, McCaugheys, the Mothers & Others, Community Group and all who helped with refreshments. Your help is always appreciated and are what makes events such as this the success that it was.

CongratulationsThe Club would like to acknowledge and express their gratitude towards Patrick Walsh who was awarded Junior Referee of the Year recently at the Monaghan GAA awards ceremony in the Four Seasons. This is a thankless job and the county is short on referees whom without we would not be able to play and enjoy our games. Patrick has represented the Club for many years and it is fitting that he was the recipient of this award. Thank you, Patrick, and we hope to see you on the field for many years to come doing a fine job.

Club Membership: Club Membership for the forthcoming year is now due, it is essential to ensure that Club membership is paid to cover the cost of team affiliations, insurances and player injury fund. With that in mind we ask all our players, members and families to log in and pay their membership online in a safe and secure environment in the comfort of your home or on the go. Once again we are utilising Clubforce to facilitate the payment of membership. We ask that all members download the Clubforce app from the App Store or Google Play store, or you can click on the link here: https://member.clubforce.com/memberships_cart_m.asp?LL_ID=2409&clb=1 if viewing online.

Club membership is vital to the survival of the Club and please remember all players are required to have their membership completed to be covered for the Player Injury Fund. If you have any queries in relation to the Clubforce App please contact Damien O’Reilly on 087 125 2126

For anyone who wishes to pay directly to the Club Pete Devlin is the new Club registrar and will take payment or alternatively Dermot Reavey will also take payment.
Astro Pitch: Pitches available for hire, if you would like to make a booking, please call on 089 965 1828 to secure your slot.

Liam and Liam Óg Mulligan have wired the new lights to the power supply. Positioning of the lights will be done at the weekend. Thank you for giving your time and completing such great quality work. The show continues with the fencing ongoing surrounding the pitch with Gerrard and Stephen Kelly, the St Victors boundary is to commence this coming week.
