Gala Ball Celebration And Awards Night.

Cabra Castle was the venue for the eagerly awaited Corduff Gaels And Corduff Ladies Gala Ball to celebrate the wonderful 2022 season. It was a season like no other which saw Corduff Ladies win a Monaghan LGFA Minor title and the historic Intermediate Double for the first time in the history of the club plus Corduff Gaels won the Monaghan GAA Reserve Double and also the historic Intermediate Double with both clubs in the top flight for the 2023 season.
All these achievements were celebrated in style on Sunday night. The glitz and glam of the occasion were apparent from early afternoon as the ladies arrived in their fabulous dresses and the men arrived in black suits and yellow dickie bows. Following a drinks reception and photos the formalities of the evening commenced. MC for the evening was Paddy Connolly who kept everyone entertained while keeping everything on schedule.
There were lots of presentations made in recognition of the wonderful achievements of 2022 between courses during the meal. Each team was presented with a framed team photo plus their medals with the first team up the Ladies Minor team who were presented with their medals by Manager Ciarán Marron. Next up was the Ladies Senior team who were presented with their medals by manager Sean King. Corduff Ladies presented both sets of Management, Physio and First Aider with their framed photo and medals. A special award was presented to Kerrie Anne on her Minor All-Ireland success in 2022.
Following the main course Corduff Gaels Reserve and Senior teams were presented with their framed medals and photos by Manager Seamus McEnaney while Pat McEnaney mentioned a few facts about each player. Next it was throwback time to former glory days, to 1987, 1993, 1989 and 2010 with a short video clip down memory lane after which Paddy Connolly interviewed the respective captains John Joe, Tom , Frank and Gerry. Proceedings continued with 2 Recognition Awards, one to the Byrne Family for their massive contribution to both codes last year and every year and the second recognition award went to Tom Fox for commitment to the club over the years. The 2 Hall Of Fame Awards went to Felix Brennan and Sandra McEnaney respectively, both of whom were very worthy recipients of their award. A presentation of flowers was made by Pádraic Keenan to his grandmother Mary and a donation of €1,000 was made to Patsy McNally on behalf of the Friends Of Carrick Cancer.
With the formalities almost over John Connolly spoke on behalf of Monaghan County Board and Corduff Gaels would like to extend their gratitude to John for attending and hope he enjoyed his night.
The meal was finished by this time so Paddy had the job of bringing the curtain down on the presentations and speeches. Corduff Gaels and Ladies extend a massive thank you to Paddy for his outstanding job as MC. At that stage it was over to Vertigo who kept everyone rocking into the wee small hours.
Events like this don’t happen without the contribution of many people so a huge thank you goes to the Corduff Gaels and Corduff Ladies Committee who worked together on organizing this event. 5 ladies in particular were presented with flowers. Also thanks to Cabra Castle for their input ensuring the event ran smoothly.
