Halla Laochra CLG Mhuineacháin – Barney (Brian) McDonald

Deireadh seachtaine speisialta a bhí ann an tseachtain seo caite do chlub Bhaile na Lorgan Faughs agus do mo Dhaideo, Barney McDonald, a ainmníodh mar bhall de Halla Laochra CLG Mhuineacháin ag oíche na ngradam bliantúil in Óstán Four Seasons i Muineachán.

Tar éis bronnadh na ngradam do na himreoirí agus na réiteoirí is fearr, ba iad buaiteoirí Hall of Fame an chéad ghrúpa eile ar an stáitse agus fuair Barney a ghradam ó chathaoirleach Bhord Chontae Mhuineacháin Declan Flanagan sular cuireadh Gráinne McElwain ó Sky Sports agus Cumann an Bhoth faoi agallamh.

Rinne Grainne cur síos ar éachtaí Barney ag imirt do Mhuineachán (peil agus iománaíocht) agus freisin ar a stair le Faughs nuair a bhuaigh sé 9 gcraobh shinsir peile (SFC) agus d’imir sé in 14 cluiche ceannais SFC. Phléigh Gráinne agus Daideo a laethanta tosaigh ag imirt peile ar na coimín agus i bpáirc Barney i mBaile na Lorgan agus chomh maith leis sin mar a d’imir sé peil i ngairdín Gerry Fitzpatrick agus é ina pháiste. Rinne Daideo cur síos ansin ar a chuimhní cinn ó chluichí áirithe agus ar na himreoirí ab fhearr a d’imir sé leo agus ina gcoinne. Chríochnaigh an t-agallamh le roinnt comhairle ó Dhaideo d’imreoirí óga atá ag iarraidh rath a bhaint amach sa chlub agus sa chontae.

Bhí mo dheartháir Dáire (Faughs faoi11) agus mise (Faughs faoi12) an-bhródúil as Daideo agus thug sé spreagadh dúinn agus muid ag cur tús lenár séasúr 2023.

Comhghairdeas le Daideo Barney agus comhghairdeas freisin leis na buaiteoirí eile ar an oíche lena n-áirítear iad seo a leanas ó Bhaile na Lorgan nó na ceantair máguaird: Raymond Malone (Gradam Réiteoir Idirmheánach), Brain McGuigan (Gradam Imreoir Contae ar scor), David Sheedy (Gradam an Réiteoir Sóisearach), Rioghnadh Duffy ( Gradam Imreoir Camógaíochta na bliana) agus baill fhoireann iomána Sóisear na hÉireann a bhuaigh ó 1997.
