Ulster Senior Football Club League Result – Scotstown 1-11 Ballymacnab 2-8
Well done to our Senior players and management in their entertaining, hard fought draw to a strong Ballymacnab GAA side on Saturday last in Kilmore. The game started with both sides matching point for point before Ballymacnab took a 4 point lead with a goal after 15 minutes making the score 1-3 to 0-2. Ballymacnab extended their lead further to 5 points before a superb goal by Seanie Mohan reduced the margin to 2 points. Scotstown were level after 27 minutes with 2 fine points by Jason Carey and Jack Mohan. However Ballymacnab took a 1 point lead into half time after a point from play making the score 1-5 to 1-4. After 7 minutes of the second half the Blues were 2 points in front after 3 well placed points, each by James Hamill, Jack Mohan (free) and Emmet Caulfield. However Ballymacnab scored their second goal shortly after. The Blues responded strongly and regained the lead with 2 fine points by Jason Carey and Nicholas Sherlock making the score 1-9 to 2-5. With 10 minutes remaining Ballymacnab equalised but the Blues pressed ahead again and Ryan Malley scored a superb point giving Scotstown the advantage. Ballymacnab immediately equalised again and the large crowd were treated to an exciting finale with both clubs going for the decisive winner. With 3 minutes of normal time remaining, Jack Mohan scored a well placed free giving the Blues a 1 point advantage. However injury time, Ballymacnab equalised again and the final score was 1-11 to 2-8.

In the Ulster Senior League, Scotstown next play our fellow county club Latton O’Rahilly GAA this Thursday 23rd February at 8:15pm in Corduff Gaels. We have been drawn in Group D with Latton O’Rahilly GAA, Lavey GAA from County Derry, Ballymacnab GAA from Armagh and Donaghmore GAA from Tyrone. Allianz Division 1 National Football League Roinn 3 Result: Monaghan 1-20 Donegal 0-15
Well done to the Monaghan team with a convincing 1-20 to 0-15 win over Donegal in Clones on Sunday last. The Farney men put in a superb performance and display of football securing a vital 2 points in the league. Well done to all our Blues who played Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Jack McCarron, and Conor McCarthy and with superb scores from Jack McCarron (0-7 (4 from frees and 1 from mark)), Rory Beggan (0-2 free), Shane Carey and Conor McCarthy(1 point each).

Congratulations to the Monaghan U20s team and management, and well done to our Blues Mark McPhillips and Sean Treanor in their 3-13 to 0-16 win over Westmeath on Saturday last in the U20 Philly McGuinness Cup Round 2 game. They next play Louth at home in Round 3 on Saturday 4th March in Castleblayney at 1:00pm.

There will be an adults Fun table quiz in the Scotstown GAA Social Club on Saturday 25th February at 8:30pm. A fun night of general knowledge, music and picture rounds. Lots of spot prizes and surprises, and only €10 per person (€40 for table of 4).

We are having the popular Prediction Competition Quiz from previous years for this year’s National Football League games which commenced a few weeks ago.

The February Ciste draw will take place on Sunday Night, February 26th at 10:00pm, in the Social Club. You can purchase your Ciste tickets in our local shops. There are tickets, envelopes and collection boxes in each of these shops; McMahon Centra, Scotstown; McAloons Knockatallon; XL Ballinode & Killylough. U14 and U16 girls training
There is circuit and Strength & Conditioning training for Under 14 girls which commenced on Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm and for Under 16 girls from 8pm to 9pm and continues for next 4 weeks

RTE Operation Transformation 2023 – Ireland Lights Up Walk
We have registered with the Transformation 2023 initiative again this year. It commenced last Wednesday 11th January from 7pm. There was also a health check again with blood pressure checks, well done and many thanks to everyone involved. The walks will take place every Wednesday night from 7pm until the end of February.
Feel free to join in at any stage during that time. This initiative involves Scotstown GAA Health and Well-being joining up with Ireland Lights Up 2023 in partnership with RTE Operation Transformation and encourages everyone young and old, especially families / household bubbles, to get Ireland safely walking. We host this initiative at the Kilmore walking track at evening times, every Wednesday.
Also family walk on Saturday morning this Saturday 25th February at 10:00 all welcome.
Health and Wellbeing – Nutritional Talks
As part of our healthy club initiative we are having a nutritional talk for U14 to U16 girls and U13 to U15 boys and their parents at the end of February. This commences next Monday evening with Derbhile Sherry, nutritionist and Scotstown Ladies player, presenting the session with thanks.

Anyone interested in taking part in Rince Céile (Céilí dancing), Rince Seit (Set dancing), Ceol uirlise (instrumental music), Aithriseoireacht (recitation), Amhránaíocht aonair (Solo singing), Bailéad-ghrúpa (Ballad group), Nuachleas (Novelty act) or Tráth na gCeist (Quiz) should contact their club cultural officer immediately. Times and Venues will be confirmed closer to the date. Secondary school students who are u17 as of the 1st January 2023 are welcome to take part.
