Monaghan club receives Ulster GAA Healthy Club Award

The Latton O’Rahilly club in County Monaghan were worthy recipients of the Ulster GAA Healthy Club Award, presented in association with the Ulster Independent Clinic.

The Ulster GAA Healthy Club Award is a recognition of a club’s efforts in building healthy practises into their everyday activities, while also responding to the health and wellbeing needs of their members and their communities.

Latton made a real impact in their community by including coordinating a safe walking club during the winter months, organising dancing classes for older members, and providing a community contact list that signposts members to key support services within the local area.

Other steps taken by the club included involvement in the Ulster GAA Club Hero programme for people with disabilities, and organising events to promote awareness of mental health issues. As part of their prize, the club will receive O’Neill’s teamwear/equipment vouchers, courtesy of the Ulster Independent Clinic.

Presenting Latton with their award, Nicola McGregor, Company Secretary, the Ulster Independent Clinic, said:

“On behalf of the Ulster Independent Clinic, I would like to congratulate Latton O’Rahilly GAA, who have been recognised for their impressive efforts in delivering a significant and all-inclusive programme for their local community.”

Ulster GAA President, Ciaran McLaughlin added:

“We are delighted to present the Healthy Club award to Latton O’Rahilly to acknowledge the outstanding work they’ve carried out in supporting the holistic health of their members and the community they serve.

“Engraining a healthy philosophy while integrating health into day-to-day activities ensures that GAA clubs are at the heart of their communities and make them a beacon for health in their local areas.”
