Doohamlet O Neills A.G.M. Our A.G.M. was held in our clubrooms last month. Our chairperson P.J. Meehan opened the meeting by paying tribute to two very influential members who passed away since our last A.G.M. Mickey Mc Eneaney and Eamonn Connolly. The secretary Paul Campbell read the minutes of the previous A.G.M. and then presented his report of the goings on in the club throughout the year. It was a very thorough and comprehensive report which covered everything that happened throughout the year in our club. Our Treasurer Bernie O Neill presented the club’s financial report and as usual, it was a very detailed and impressive report. Our Youth Officer, Bernard Coleman gave a detailed structure of the goings on of our juveniles throughout the year. Our Development Officer Colin Finnegan spoke about the ongoing development of our new playing field and its progression.
Chairperson’s Address: Our Chairperson P.J. Meehan welcomed everyone to the meeting. He spoke about the loss of Mickey Mc Eneaney who died in May 2022. Mickey was a very dedicated club officer, especially at the underage level. He also served as P.R.O. for a number of years. Mickey was highly regarded by players, club members, and the wider community and will be greatly missed within our club. He then spoke about Eamonn Connolly who passed away in December 2022. Eamonn was one of a kind, always at hand and willing at a moment’s notice to help out in any way he could. He held many positions in our club down through the years, but his main grá was to have O Neill Park in tip-top condition at all times. Eamonn was also involved in the ongoing construction of our new football field and it is with deep regret that he hasn’t seen its completion. Eamonn will never be replaced but the best tribute we can pay to Eamonn is to follow in his footsteps. Our Chairperson extended the club’s deepest sympathy to our Secretary Paul Campbell on the death of his father Tony, who held a number of positions in our club. He extended sympathy also to the family of the late Frank Hamilton former player of our club who passed away in 2022. On behalf of the club, our Chairperson extended his sympathy to any club member who lost a family member or friend in 2022. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dhílis.
P.J. then thanked the players and management of our senior team for the hard work and commitment they put in throughout the year. He spoke about how it had been a frustrating year and wished them every success for 2023. He also thanked everyone involved with the under-age level both players and management and thanked everyone for their dedication and commitment throughout the year. He congratulated the U-15 and the U-13 teams on their success.
