Club Notes
St.Mellans Handball Club
County Championships. We held the girls U12 county championships last Saturday in St.Mellans, we had 9 girls in action with 7 representing St.Mellans, it was a great display from all girls with some playing their first ever competitive game and from the evidence of play on display we are in a good place with girls handball in the future, well done to Eimear, Danielle, Ashling, Ava, Beibhinn, Aoibhinn & Shona, well done to Beibhinn where she made the final and will face Teagan Clerkin from Bawn, the U13 boys were held on Sunday in The Harps, Daragh Mc Carey made the semi final, the other semi between Odhran Mc Meel & Fiachra Kelly will be played this week in St.Mellans, the U14 boys was played in Corduff, Harry Treanor has made the final and is on course to retain his title, Dylan O Reilly unfortunately didn’t progress out of the U17 boys that were played in Emyvale also on Sunday, keep practising as all county finals as booked in for Sunday the 8th of January, venue TBC.
Adult County Championships. The adult county championships fixtures are all out, please check and make sure all know the time & place, good luck to all taking part, all players to wear “club colours” when playing in county games.
Mono League. The remining Mono league games have to be before tomorrow night (Friday) after that any outstanding games will be decided by fixtures committee, those who made the knock out stages will be informed very shortly.
Adult Club Singles & Doubles. We will be soon starting the adult singles & doubles in the club, so when a message goes out please reply to Eoin ASAP with an answer, and anyone that couldn’t commit to the league but wants to play singles or doubles get your name into Eoin ASAP.
Juvenile Coaching & Leagues. The juvenile leagues and coaching for 2022 have now concluded for 2022, enjoy the break and will see you all back in 2023 for an exciting conclusion the handball season in ’23, enjoy the break everyone. Registration. If any member still hasn’t paid their “club Membership” can do so through Foireann,, so go to www.foireann.ie and get registered and paid up, any issues contact a member of the committee, NB players are not eligible to play in county, provincial or All Ireland events if not registered with Croke Park.
County Table Quiz. The county board will be holding a table quiz in the new year as a fun raiser for all county activities, it will be held in Terrys Bar in Monaghan town on January the 6th, so keep the date free!!!!, blow a few feathers off after Christmas.
Meetings. Our next “club” meeting is on Wednesday the 4th of January, and the next “county board” meeting is pencilled in for January the 9th.
Festive Break. We have reached that time of year the “Christmas break”, we are halfway through yet another very busy year but there is still a lot more to come in 2023 so enjoy the break and be ready for a busy end to the season, so from all in the club we would like to wish all our players and supporters a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New year.
