Corduff Club Notes 03.01.2023

By Majella Boyd Sun 15th Jan

New Year Greetings:
Corduff Gaels and Corduff Ladies would like to extend best wishes for a very Happy New Year to all players, mentors, coaches, managers, volunteers, sponsors, members, supporters and the wider Corduff  Raferagh Community for 2023. 2022 was an amazing year for the club and the community and we’re looking forward to 2023 with renewed enthusiasm. At this time we remember those who are no longer with us and we extend our sympathies. To those who got engaged, married or welcomed a new member to the family in 2022 we extend our congratulations. In particular we extend congratulations to Brendan and Arlene who celebrated their wedding last week. Best wishes to anyone who has a big occasion planned for 2023.
Ulster Final:
The long awaited and eagerly anticipated Ulster Final against Galbally Pearses which was postponed 3 times in December was eventually played on Wednesday 21st in The Athletic Grounds. This match brought the curtain down on the fantastic 2022 season which will go down in history as the most historic year for both  Corduff Gaels and Corduff Ladies. If we throwback and take a look at October 2022 it stands out as the most historic month ever as the Ladies completed the Intermediate Double by winning the Championship early in the month which was followed by Corduff Gaels who also completed the Intermediate Double over the last 2 Sundays of the month. As a result of these big wins both the men and ladies are looking forward to competing at Senior level in their respective competitions in 2023. The men tasted Senior football in 1999 but it the first time for the ladies to go Senior.
Massive congratulations to both teams and their management for giving everyone an unforgettable season which brought us right up to Christmas and that certainly doesn’t happen very often but the memories will live on. A special word of thanks goes to main sponsors Brendan Mee and Family , MTM Engineering and Orla Marron, The Ivy Skin and LazerSpecialists.
It would be remiss of me not to applaude the excellent work being done at Juvenile level with our boys and girls. Lots more in store this year. The future looks bright.
Best wishes to everyone in 2023 which promises to be another exciting year.
