By Majella Boyd Sun 15th Jan

County Teams

Best wishes to senior team management, our own Vinny and Marty, and players Conor McManus, Conor Boyle, Killian Lavelle, Francis Hughes and Darren McDonnell as they embark on the 2023 campaign with the opening games of Dr McKenna against Down in Blayney and away to Donegal next week. Please be advised these games are ticket only and there will be no cash sales at the venues.

Good wishes also to Aaron Carey who has been selected on the Monaghan U20 squad.

Ireland Lights Up

The hugely popular ‘Ireland Lights Up’ initiative returns on Wednesday January 11th 2023. GAA clubs across the 32 counties will once more ensure ‘Ireland Lights Up’ by turning on their floodlights and host community walking groups during the eight-week period.

The aim is to make exercise more accessible on the dark winter nights and to offer local communities an opportunity to get together and socialise in a healthy way.

You are also invited to download the Mylife Health app to register your steps under Clontibret O Neill’s as part of the challenge. This is an extra option.

Signatures need to be gathered so that our Club’s participant numbers will be announced live each week.

Can we ask people to please sign in at the entrance to the walking track before they leave. The walk starts from 7pm each Wednesday night for 8 weeks only. For the first meeting on Wednesday the 11th January, would you please arrive before 7pm for a quick introduction and then we launch the initiative/walk together. Any week after that you can arrive around 7pm, walk away but just make sure you sign before you leave.

We are excited to represent and showcase our vibrant and caring community in this national initiative. It is a great opportunity to get out of the house, shake off any leftover Christmas cobwebs and meet up for a laugh with neighbours and friends. All very welcome.

Sympathy

To the Connolly family Doohamlet on the death of Eamonn a true Gael and frequent visitor to O’Neill Park in his role as supervisor of FAS/ CES schemes.

Happy New Year

To all our players, coaches and members especially those who contribute with their time and or money to help in the smooth running of the club. Remember that every little bit you do or give means someone else doesn’t have to do it. Happy New Year.
