County Monaghan Handball Foundation Coaching Course

Well done to everyone who took part in the GAA Handball Foundation Coaching Course, held in St. Mellan’s Handball Club last Tuesday evening, 13th December. Thank you to St Mellan’s and GAA Handball National Development Officer Darragh Daly for hosting the course!

St.Mellans Handball Club

County Championships. There were 3 juvenile county championships held last weekend, in the U12 boys Shay Mc Kenna (O) has made the county final where he will face Aaron Bannon from The Harps club, in the U15 boys Myles Mc Meel reached the final and will play Nathan Regiac also The Harps club and in the boys U16 will have Donnacha Mc Cluskey facing Calum Sherry also representing The Harps club, this weekend the remaining sections for the singles will conclude, in St. Mellans the girls U12’s are this Saturday @ 2pm, the U13 boys this Sunday in The Harps @ 10:30am, the U14 boys also Sunday in Corduff @ 1pm, and the U17 boys are in Emyvale also on Sunday @ 1pm, all other grade are already at final stages, good luck to all the girls & boys taking part, and the most important thing is to enjoy all, all players to wear “club colours” will playing in county games, all the county finals will be played the one day, provincially booked in for January Sunday the 8th venue TBC.

Congratulations. Congratulations to Donnacha Mc Cluskey who was nominated as “Young Handballer of the Year” for 2022 last week at the county convention, well done Donnacha and well deserved for all your success over the year, the presentation will take place in the new year, well done from all in the club!!!!!!.

Ulster She’s Ace. Well done to Ava Mc Kenna, Beibhinn & Aoibhinn that took part in “Ulster She’s Ace” in Beragh Co.Tyrone last weekend, Ava progressed out of the 11 and under group to make the semi-final and Aoibhinn was runner up in Ladies A section, well done girls, it was a good days handballing!!!!!!.

Adult County Championships. The adult county championships fixtures are all out, good luck to all taking part, please make sure all games are played on schedule, all players to wear “club colours” will playing in county games.

Mono League. The Mono league have a few remaining games to be played then we are entering knock out stages, any un-played games after this weekend the committee will be making a decision on those outstanding fixtures.

Club Singles & Doubles. We will be soon starting the singles & doubles in the club, so when a message goes out please reply to Eoin ASAP with an answer, and anyone that couldn’t commit to the league but wants to play singles or doubles get your name into Eoin ASAP.

Juvenile Coaching & Leagues. This week will see the conclusion to the juvenile leagues and coaching for 2022, we send out messages to all group when we are resuming. Registration. If any member still hasn’t paid their “club Membership” can do so through Foireann,, so go to www.foireann.ie and get registered and paid up, any issues contact a member of the committee, NB players are not eligible to play in county, provincial or All Ireland events if not registered with Croke Park.

County Table Quiz. The county board will be holding a table quiz in the new year as a fun raiser for all county activities, at the moment we are provincially booking Terrys Bar in Monaghan town for January the 6th, so keep the date free!!!!, blow a few feathers off after Christmas.

Meetings. Our next club meeting is on Wednesday the 4th of January, the next meeting is pencilled in for January the 9th.
