On Saturday the 2nd of July the U11 Spring League Finals took place at the Entekra Monaghan GAA Centre of Excellence in Cloghan. A total of 21 games took place over the course of the day as over 700 players from 28 clubs were respresented. The main aim of the U11 Spring League is Skill Development, Participation and Fun for all teams with emphasis being put on the overhead/reach catch and the kick pass over 15m to chest for Saturdays Finals Day.
There were some brilliant skills on show from all teams. Every game had a skill award which was based on the overall use of the two main skills. There were designated skill recorders for each game to record all skills. It is very important at this age that these core skills are focused on in training and in games.
Monaghan Coaching & Games would like to give a special mention to all those who volunteered to referee the games as without a referee there would be no game. We would also like to thank our Skill Recorders, Car Park Stewards and Tea/Coffee sellers for helping on the day and also to all the players, coaches and spectators for making the day a success.
The Liam Stirrat Development League starts on Saturday, 16th July. There will be a training/information evening on Monday 11th July at 7:30pm in Cloghan for U11 management teams in advance of the Liam Stirrat Development League.
