This weeks Secondary Schools Super Games Football Blitz organised by Monaghan Coaching & Games took place on Wednesday 13th October at the Entekra Monaghan GAA Centre of Excellence in Cloghan and saw 1st and 2nd Year Girls take centre stage. Once again, the blitz was a great success as 33 teams from all 9 eligible Secondary Schools in the county attended the blitz. In total, over 400 girls got to play a minimum of 4 games each across 11 pitches throughout the morning. For all the players, this was more than likely the first time they were representing their schools on the football field and they done so with great commitment and skill.
Monaghan Coaching and Games would like to thank all the schools for taking part and all the teachers for helping out in mentoring/managing the teams on the day. We would like to wish all the schools the best of luck in their upcoming schools competitions and we are looking forward to working closely with with the schools to expand the girls blitzes over the course of the school year.
We would also like to thank all the Transition Year students who came out to referee that games. This is a great way for these young referees to learn and gain experience having recently completed the TY Go Games Referee course in their school.
Next week blitz will see attention turn to Hurling for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year Boys and it takes place next Wednesday 20th October in Cloghan.
