Entekra Monaghan GAA Centre of Excellence was a hive of activity on Wednesday, 22nd September, as Monaghan Coaching & Games hosted our first Secondary Schools Super Games blitz of the academic year. This weeks blitz was aimed at First Year boys and it was great to see all 9 eligible Secondary Schools in the county taking part. For all the players, this was more than likely the first time they were representing their schools on the football field and they done so with great commitment and skill. In total over 300 players participated in the Blitz as 27 teams played a minimum 4 games each across 9 pitches.
We would like to thank all the schools for taking part and all the teachers for helping out in mentoring/managing the teams on the day.
We would also like to say thank you to all the Transition Year students who came out and refereed the games. Over the past couple of weeks, our Coaching & Games staff have been delivering Super Games Referee courses to Transition Year students in St. Macartans College, Largy College, Patrician High School and Our Lady’s Secondary School. These students can now referee at Go Games level in their club and can referee at more of our blitzes over the course of the year. We plan to deliver this course in more Secondary Schools over the next few weeks.
Over the coming weeks we will be hosting more Secondary School blitzes for boys and girls across all codes (Football and Hurling/Camogie). See below for details:
