Latton GAA Now “Lights Up All Year Round”
The Latton O’Rahilly GAA club first got involved in the RTE Operation Transformation Lights Up Campaign in January 2018 when the programme introduced this very popular slot for the 1st time. At that time, we lit up out training field for those wishing to walk from 7-9 on 2 Nights a week. The response was phenomenal. It became a focal point for the week, and we walked in rain / hail / Frost and snow. Nothing stopped our walkers that year and we also had tea / coffee on tap for those wishing to have a chat after their walks.
This success was the incentive for us to move as quickly as possible with the project that had commenced in the previous year. With the hard work of so many and the dedication and time of our volunteers we seen our Fully lit up walking track open in January 2020. This coincided with a visit from the RTE crews to showcase our Club & members and highlight what the “Lights Up” can bring to a community.
Our Social membership option allows use of the track at any time for a mere €30 Per Year.

We are so delighted that we had the foresight to apply for the Lights Up & Indeed the “Healthy Club “initiative run by the Community & Heath Department in Croke Park. It has opened our Club and embedded us truly in “The Heart of the Community”.
Some images of where we started, and our current track are attached. At present our Lights come on at 5.45 am and in the evening until 10pm. We invite all to come along and try a walk and maybe you will love it so much you will be hooked!!!!
