Monaghan 1-12 Tyrone 0-11 2/2/20
Monaghan got off the mark in the NFL with a four-point win over Tyrone in Castleblayney on Sunday. Conor McCarthy led nine Monaghan scorers with four points from play as they bounced back from a one-point defeat in Galway to claim a deserved win. Monaghan never trailed in this Ulster derby and although Tyrone remained in touch at 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time, the hosts pulled away when Karl O’Connell netted the only goal in the 45th minute.
Monaghan face All-Ireland champions Dublin at Croke Park this Saturday.
