DIL: The presentation of the cheque for over €43,000 from Darkness into Light Monaghan 2019 took place in our clubhouse last Monday night. This doubled up with the launch of a new Pieta House outreach centre in Castleblayney. Well done to everyone involved.
Handball: Well done to all the young Harps Handballers who competed in finals in Kingscourt last Saturday. Congratulations to Eoghan McGinnity who won the All Ireland 40×20 Senior Colleges title.
Registration: Registration fees for 2020 can now be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60. Please note that all adult and juvenile players must be registered before starting training for 2020.
Ireland Lights Up: Monaghan Harps are proud to be taking part in the Operation Transformation ‘Ireland Lights Up’ project for 2020. Well over 100 people have taken part in each of the first four nights and this will continue each Thursday until February 27. This easy 3.5km route is suitable for all fitness levels and all ages. High-vis jackets will be provided, but we advise participants to bring a torch. Spread the word!
Club Draw: The GAA’s National Club Draw is back for 2020, offering great prizes. Tickets are available from club players and committee members. All support appreciated. Please return all tickets as soon as possible.
Upcoming events: The ‘Ireland Lights Up’ walks continue each Thursday until February 27. Also as part of our health and well-being programme, Monaghan Harps are pleased to host a six-week stress-control course, which started last Wednesday. Please come along and bring a friend. As part of ongoing health and wellbeing initiatives for 2020 in the club, we are hoping to have six weeks of circuit training for our members. Subject to interest and complex availability these classes will be on late Friday evenings. Cost will be €30, payable in full before classes start. Facilitator is Sharon Williamson from Coral Leisure. Great way to supplement all good work done through Operation Transformation. Please contact Brenda McConnon if interested. Monaghan Arch Club return to our clubhouse for their annual visit on Thursday, February 13.

County: Well done to Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh and the Monaghan U-20 team on winning the Philly McGuinness Cup and good luck in the upcoming championship. Well done to the county seniors on their win over Tyrone and good luck against Dublin at Croke Park this Saturday.
Schools: Best wishes to all our club players representing their teams in schools’ and colleges’ competitions. Hard luck to Daragh, Nathan, Tiarnán, Dean, Lochlainn, Eoghan, Dylan, Liam, Conor and the St. Macartan’s College MacRory team on their loss last Wednesday.

Hurling:
Table Quiz: We held our table quiz last Friday night in the clubhouse. We hope all those who attended had a great night in what was a successful fundraiser for the club. We greatly appreciate all the prizes donated from local businesses and club members alike. A special mention of thanks to Treanor Meats, Coral Leisure Centre, Francie McQuaid Tyres and Car-L-Parts. We also held an auction with a fabulous prize donated by Mono Furniture. The auction generated a great buzz and we want to give a special note of thanks to Mono Furniture for their support.
Juvenile Training: Training will start up before the end of February. All new members welcome! Please get in touch with any club member or through social media if you or your child are interested in playing hurling for 2020.
