Monaghan GAA Safe Club Night – A huge success!
Monaghan GAA Safe Club Night – A huge success!

Following on from last night’s Safe Club Presentations in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan last night we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and extend a massive thank you to all clubs for participating and playing an active role throughout the Safe Club campaign.

The Safe Club Initiative which was piloted in Monaghan reached a conclusion last night.  All clubs were presented and received an award for all their hard work and ensuring their facilitates are now more safe. The standard of club facilities and the submission of Safe Club folders was extremely high across all clubs but in the end the following clubs were recognised for their high level of competence and resourcefulness towards the Safe Club process.

Congratulations to the Clontibret club who were the overall winners, Blackhill were runners up followed by Inniskeen, Currin, Magheracloone and Cremartin who were all highly recommended in the campaign. There wasn’t very much between them and its important to highlight and applaud the efforts from all the clubs for the hard work and contribution over the last 18 months. We would like to thank the Health & Safety Sub-Committee, for assisting this process and working tirelessly from the campaign’s infancy. Also our Secretary Michael Carroll for PA duties and ensuring the night ran to schedule.

Chairman Michael E McMahon in his address commended all the clubs on the great work carried over the last 18 months and encouraged the clubs to continue to work together in order to raise the bar with regards to health and safety and insurance related matters. Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Safe Club initiative, Declan Flanagan, alluded to this also and expressed the importance of having all clubs in Monaghan now ‘Safe Clubs’

Finally, we would especially wish to thank Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, John Horan, Shay Bannon, Sinead Leavy, Ciara Clarke (National Health & Safety Committee, Croke Park), Niamh Boyle (Communications Committee Croke Park), Ciaran McKenna (Vice President of Marsh Ireland Ltd), Ciaran Wheelan (Head of Sport & Education Marsh Ireland Ltd) and Martin Carr (Head of Risk Management Marsh Ireland Ltd) for their attendance last night and making the formal presentations to the clubs.

Well done everyone….and remember we all have a responsibility to ensure Health & Safety…so LET’S PROMOTE SAFETY TOGETHER.
