Last Wednesday, Monaghan GAA County Health and Wellbeing committee ran a Safetalk course, training GAA club members in the signposting necessary to assist those who may be contemplating suicide. In total 16 people participated in this training from 6 different clubs across the county. This course was delivered by Michael McGinn- himself a member of the County Health and Well being committee- in conjunction with the HSE and Monaghan GAA.

This event was hosted by the Gaeil Truagha club in the St. Mellons complex. Truagh have been very prominent in 2019 in relation to Health and Wellbeing, leading out several events and becoming one of the healthy clubs nominated as part of the Health club programme run through Croke Park.

Monaghan GAA would like to thank all those who took the time to attend and participate so attentively. Thanks are also extended to tutor Michael McGinn, HSE staff and the Truagh club for hosting the event, especially Healthy Club Officer Pauline McCarey. It is anticipated that a further Safetalk will be delivered in the early months of 2020, venue to be decided.
