Two of Monaghan football’s longest-serving county players retired today, namely Dessie Mone and Vincent Corey. The Clontibret duo have been fixtures on the Monaghan senior panel for well over a decade, with Vinnie having made his debut in 2003, followed a year later by Dessie. The pair are among the players with the most senior appearances for Monaghan, having played over 350 games between them.
Vinnie lined out at full-back in the Allianz NFL Division Two win of 2005, but silverware proved elusive for several years afterwards until the Malachy O’Rourke era led to Ulster SFC titles in 2013 and 2015 and back-to-back league success in Divisions Three and Two.
Monaghan GAA would like to thank Dessie and Vinnie for their immense service to the county and wish them both the very best with future endeavours. They served our county with true distinction and pride and both been outstanding role models for generations to come.
Thanks Vinnie and Dessie from everyone in Monaghan GAA!!
