Aughnamullen stayed in the IFC with a free-scoring win over Seán McDermotts in Castleblayney. Having scored 1-22 in the previous round, Aughnamullen added another big tally here to take their total to 3-40 in their last two IFC games. Aughnamullen had 11 scorers in a game where all but a point of both sides’ totals came from open play.
The game was all but decided by a powerful finish to the first half by Aughnamullen, who hit an unanswered 1-8 in just over ten minutes to take charge. Mícheál Bannigan led the scoring for Aughnamullen, with the likes of Tiernan Duffy, Mark McArdle and Joel Wilson also showing well.

Monaghan Harps battled past Killanny after extra-time in a tense IFC qualifier in Castleblayney. A low-scoring hour saw the teams finish deadlocked, but the Harps (who had let a five-point lead slip away during the final quarter) almost doubled their tally in the extra 20 minutes. The Harps had nine scorers in total as they ousted a Killanny side who finished all-square in two of their three IFC games, only to lose on penalties against Donaghmoyne and in extra-time here.
