Monaghan Coaching and Games hosted a very successful football workshop for secondary school teachers.

The workshop took place in Cloghan on Wednesday 18th September. The workshop consisted of a practical session on the field which focused on Fitness with the Ball and Conditioning. Barry Mc Kenna our Strength and Conditioning coach and Colin Malone GPO led the session, with Our Lady’s Castleblayney Senior team providing the players.

The session focused on warm up, skill development, fitness with and without the ball and conditioned games.

Ryan Mellon from Ulster GAA rolled out a theory session that was based on Performance and Lifestyle (PALS).

A big thank you to the schools and teachers that attended: St Louis Carrickmacross, Ballybay, Patrician, Inver, Largy, Colaiste Oiriall, Our Lady’s and St Macartans, Castleblayney College could not attend due to a teacher training day.

Thanks to Our Lady’s Senior team that took part in the session.

Also thanks to Barry Mc Kenna, Colin Malone and Ryan Mellon who delivered the workshop.

The Coaching and Games department plan to have another of these workshops in the near future. We will be in contact with secondary schools when we arrange a date and time.
