A sharper, more clinical Scotstown proved too potent in most departments for an Aghabog side that never really caught fire in this Junior championship encounter that was played in greasy conditions in Gavin Duffy Park, Monaghan, on Saturday evening last. Scotstown led from gun to tape getting off to a great start and hitting a goal in either half that helped push the issue beyond a misfiring Aghabog. Scotstown led at half-time by 1-6 to 0-4 and had pushed that out to a ten points lead eight minutes into the second half thanks to a second goal. Missed chances was the order of the day for both sides from there to the finish, with Scotstown only able to add one further point while Aghabog tagged on two but never looked like closing the gap effectively. Scotstown finished the game with fourteen players following the dismissal of Padraig Meehan on a straight red card following an incident at the end of the third quarter.
