Seniors: We started our McElvaney’s Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship campaign with a hard-earned preliminary-round win over Seán McDermotts in Scotstown last Sunday. John Mulligan, Éimhín Morahan, Liam Hahessy and Conor McCrystal were on target as we gained the upper hand in the opening quarter, but the Seáns rallied to lead by 1-7 to 0-9 at half-time. Éimhín and Liam added to their tallies during the second half, while Shane Smyth also chipped in with a point as our lads secured a win that sets up a Round 1A clash with Magheracloone in Castleblayney on Friday at 8pm. Minors: We fell short against Emyvale in the U-17 Football League Division One Final on Tuesday (August 20). Next up is the start of the championship against St. Pat’s in Drumhowan on Tuesday, August 27.
Gavan Duffy Park: We host a Ladies SFC semi-final between Emmet Óg and Emyvale this Saturday evening at 7pm.
U-15: Our U-15 Division Four team continued their championship with a win against Seán McDermotts on Thursday.
U-13: Amid a busy championship schedule for our U-13s, our Division One team enjoyed a good win at home to Carrickmacross last Thursday. This was a fine team performance by the Harps, with the likes of Jack Lynch, Eoin Sheridan, Jack Kierans and John McCrystal supplying the scores that built up a good lead in the first half. All players involved worked well throughout, with Mark Lynch, Kyle Cooney, Daniel Alexis and Ethan McCaffrey getting forward to add scores.

U-11: Our U-11s continued their Liam Stirrat Development League campaign away to Drumhowan last Thursday. This Saturday sees our U-11s turn their attentions to a Tournament in Dromintee, Co Armagh. Good luck to all involved. Our own annual Mick Farrell Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 7. More details later.
Summer Camp: Our in-house Summer Camp took place this week at Gavan Duffy Park. Thanks to everyone involved.
Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.
Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.
Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and to remove all equipment, bottles etc. from the pitch after training sessions.
