Manor Farm U15 Division 2 Shield Final

Crenartin 8-12 to Truagh 6-16

When our National game is played in the spirit it was intended to, it is a beauty to watch… when two teams play to win.. attack at every possible moment.. put everything on the line.. respect each other but give each other nothing… play honest open direct football we get to experience something special..

This was for all to see on Thursday last when Gael Truagh and Cremartin Shamrocks met in the Manor Farm u15 Div2 Final in Oram. Both teams need to be congratulated for this epic and exhausting battle.

With the aid of the wind Cremartin got off to a great start with registering 1.4 without reply but 2 goals from each side and some fantastic long range scores from both sides saw Cremartin  take a half time lead of 3-8 to 2-3. Second half continued with free flowing football, superb tackling, turn overs and even more exciting football. Truagh had the wind the 2nd half and made use of it early on by reducing the match to the minimum. This game had all and both sides matched each other score for score and as we entered final seconds of the match Truagh conjured the equaliser after  Cremartin failed to take a few chances to kill off the game… extra time beckoned as at final whistle of this battle they could not be separated with the score at Cremartin 5-11 Truagh 4-14

Both teams were now out on their feet but extra time didn’t disappoint.. In fact it was to take the game up another gear. Similar to main game Cremartin raced ahead but Truagh kept plugging back and as these two teams were fighting it out it came down to the final minute Cremartin ahead by 2 and in control of the ball but a wayward back pass though fell short to the Truagh full forward who put the ball in the net. Truagh now lead by 1 into injury time. With a game of this quality emotion and nature like a good movie there was one final twist and the Cremartin players were writing the script. With one final charge, they weren’t to be beaten and with a wonderfully crafted goal took the spoils at the death What a finish…
