The Emmets and The Faughs of neighbouring towns Carrickmacross and Castleblayney contested the Manor Farm Division 1 Cup Final on Wednesday evening with sun drenched Donaghmoyne the venue.

It was The Emmets that opened brightly registering the first score of the game which was cancelled out by The Faughs when they hit home 1-1 off the boots of Thomas Hughes and Niall Rice respectively.  Despite a number of inaccuracies in front of the posts  by Carrickmacross, Fionan Carolan kept them  in the game.At the other end Castleblayney were more accurate and economical with Martin Joyce, Kealan McMahon and Niall Rice all on target scoring 1-3 collectively building up a commaanding lead approaching halftime. But The Emmets had their say with a Jack Conlon goal which narrowed that margin to 2 points at the interval on a scoreline of Carrickmacross 1-5 to Castleblayney 2-04.

After the restart The Faughs stormed ahead with Niall Rice, Kealan McMahon,Nathan McArdle,Charlie McQuillan and Thomas Hughes all on target acculuminating 1-4 between them. Once again The Emmets were guilty of missed changes and it wasn’t until the 15th  minute of the second half that captain  Darragh Mee stepped up and registered 2 points . Carrickmacross were  trailing by 14 points midway through the half on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-7 and it looked as if The Faughs were running away with the game but the never say die attirude of Carrickmacross isprired a late comeback as in the first half and  they registering 2 unanswered goals reducing the decificit to 6 points. A packed Carrickmacros defence in the dying stages of the game did deny Castleblayney some opportnities  but by the final whistle Castleblayney had added 3 more points to their tally and eased to vistory on a final scoreline of 3-17 to 3-08
