Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under 13 Division 3 Football League Cup Final
Corduff 3-5 Killanny 4-13
13/07/19
Killanny overcame a 5 point half time deficit to be crowned under 13 division 3 champions against Corduff at the beautifully appointed Emmet Park, Carrickmacross on Saturday morning.
In an exciting first half Corduff playing with the breeze managed to score two excellent goals from their talented corner forward Peter Connolly and a couple of neat points from the roaming Gerard Corrigan. However, to their credit Killanny remained in the contest by the halfway stage with impressive scores from the dual threats of Conor Burns and Daniel Kelly.
The Geraldines outfit began the second half with a greater urgency and by the 10th minute were ahead with goals coming from Oran Connolly and Daniel Kelly. Indeed, the latter finished with 3-3 to his name in a memorable performance. Corduff did manage to take the lead again momentarily following another Peter Connolly goal. But notably Killanny began to make their physicality count in the closing stages of the match dominating possession and delivering some wonderful scores to deservedly win the battle of the South Monaghan clubs.
