Over the past two weeks the Kellogg’s Cul Camp’s gathered great pace throughout the county with a total of 10 camps taking place. Our attendances across the 5 camps in week three were excellent with 207 boys and girls taking part in Truagh, 152 children in Killanny, in Aghabog we had 102 kids, Eire Og had a brilliant 144 kids in attendance and Ballybay had 152 kids at their fun filled camp. For week four, once again we had huge numbers attending the camps, In Scotstown we had a huge 211 kids in attendance, in Donaghmoyne there were 174 boys and girls taking part, Magheracloone had a fantastic 145 kids at their camp, Corduff had 102 boys and girls and Latton had 127 boys and girls in attendance at their camp.Credit must go to the clubs for the fantastic effort they put in promoting the camps in the weeks leading up to this past week.
The children got to experience the full enjoyment of a Kellogg’s Cul Camp with a full range of fun games and activities throughout the week. Each of the participants who attended the camps got an opportunity to play football, hurling, camogie, rounders and in some camps, handball.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming both Ulster Minor Trophies from both the boys and girls teams over the past 2 weeks. It was great to have some current players from both teams travelling to the camps with the cups and providing some great insights into how their year is going and also about their own Cul Camp experience in years gone by.
Monaghan Coaching & Games would like to thank the host clubs for providing their excellent facilities throughout the week, and for facilitating the storage of equipment for the week also. Furthermore they would like to thank camp co-ordinators, coaches, parents and children for their help in ensuring the camps were a success.
Next week sees the final 2 camps of the summer being rolled out in Doohamlet and Blackhill. There are still places left on both camps and we advise people to kook early to avoid disappointment.
The cost of the camp is €60 for the first child, €55 for the second child and €45 for every child after that. Each child received a free backpack, half zip training top and a Cul Camps jersey.
If you would like any further information about the camp please do not hesitate to contact county coordinator Paul O’Connor (086 837 4827)and he will be glad to help.
