Truagh 1-13, Magheracloone 1-9.

A resurgent Truagh staged an increasingly effective second-half performance to come from being four points in arrears at half-time to winning by the same margin in this keenly contested and at times feisty affair that was played in ideal conditions in Clontibret on Sunday afternoon last.

Magheracloone drew first blood, but an early goal saw Truagh take the lead and it wasn’t until the final minutes of the opening quarter that Magheracloone drew level and they then went on to impose themselves in the second quarter with Alan McCahey and Ryan Farrelly central to that strong period by the Mitchells who went on to lead at half-time by four points, 1-8 to 1-4, Ryan Farrelly with the Magheracloone goal.

They extended their lead to five within three minutes of the resumption but that strangely was to be their final score of the game as Truagh grew in stature and gradually took control, defending in numbers and hitting Magheracloone on the break to register five unanswered points between the sixth and twenty-fifth minutes to draw level and then going on to hit a further four points without reply in the closing stages to clinch victory.
