Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 8, 12, 13 and 26. Jackpot of €2,200 not won. Residual prizes: €100 Frank Galligan c/o Brian O’Sullivan (Hurling Club); €40 Dympna Corbett c/o Séamus Treanor; €40 S O’Neill c/o Ann Treanor; €40 Harry McCullagh c/o Séamus Treanor. Jackpot for Sunday, June 23 is €2,300 and Monica and Paudge Connolly are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which has now played a critical role in our club’s funding for 25 years.

Flag Day: Our juvenile club’s annual street collection takes place this Friday and Saturday. We will need lots of help over the two days and would appreciate if club members could volunteer for two-hour slots: 10-12, 12-2, 2-4 and 4-6 on both days. Thank you in advance for your help.

Seniors: We lost out away to Killanny in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League last Friday. Killanny kicked the game’s opening three points and the remainder of the first half was score for score, leaving us trailing by 0-6 to 0-3. Dean Fanning and Liam Hahessy were again on target as we twice closed to within two points after the restart, but that was as close as we got on a frustrating night. The gap remained at three until added time when Killanny struck the only goal to double their lead and seal a 1-10 to 0-7 win.

Team and scorers: Darragh Hannon; Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh, Aodhán Óg McAnespie (Capt.), Kevin Loughran; Thomas Croarkin, Conor Galligan, Oisín Fagan; Dylan McKenna, James McKenna; Dean Fanning (0-3f), Lochlainn Power, Nicholas Scott; Gary White, Shane Smyth, Liam Hahessy (0-4, 3f).

Subs: Shane McMahon for White (H-T), John Mulligan for D McKenna (36 mins), Michael Galligan for Power (39), Niall Greenan for Fagan, Evan Doherty for Scott (both 55).

We have another away game this weekend, as we travel to Corduff on Sunday for a 12-noon throw-in. Please support!

Reserves: We returned to winning ways in the RFL Division 1B at home to Aughnamullen last Sunday. All our forwards were on target as we ran out winners by double scores (4-16 to 2-8) with an improved performance, with goals from Niall Greenan and Francis Lynch and good points from the likes of Shane McMahon and Niall McManus helping us lead by 2-9 to 0-4 half-time. Francis added a brace of goals after the restart as we pulled further clear and although Aughnamullen rallied with a couple of goals, we had done enough for a win that sees us stay in touch with the league leaders.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Jamie Shields, Conn O’Hanlon, Conor Duffy; Thomas Croarkin, John Mulligan, Kevin Lyden; Dylan McKenna, James McKenna; Niall McManus (0-2), Shane McMahon (Capt., 0-5), Niall Greenan (1-3); Nathan O’Donoghue (0-3f), Evan Doherty (0-1), Francis Lynch (3-1).

Subs: Colm Shalvey (0-1) for J McKenna, J McKenna for Duffy.

We were away to Aghabog in the RFL Division 2B on Tuesday, with another away game scheduled for next Wednesday in Inniskeen.

U-17: The U-17 Football League is due to resume next week, with fixtures as yet unavailable.

U-15: The U-15 Football Leagues are set to return from the exam break, with Division One resuming next Thursday. Before that, our Division Four team travel to Scotshouse this evening (Thursday) to face Patrick Sarsfields at 7pm

U-13: Our U-13 teams enjoyed a productive week. Our Division One and Division Five sides both won at home to Scotstown last Tuesday, before managing another double away to Carrickmacross on Saturday. Our U-13s were in action again on Tuesday (June 18) against Donaghmoyne.

U-11: Our U-11s enter the Liam Stirrat Development League this weekend, with Aghabog first up in a home game on Saturday at 12 noon.

County: Good luck to Daragh Croarkin and the Monaghan minor footballers in their Ulster MFC semi-final against Donegal in Enniskillen tomorrow night (Friday) and to Neil McAdam and the county seniors against Armagh in Clones on Saturday.

Cúl Camp: The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp returns to Gavan Duffy Park from July 8-12.

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

Hurling: Senior: We hosted Latton on Thursday last in the Development League shield semi-final. The home side started the better, with Cathal Power registering two early points to settle the team. Midway through the half Cillian Sherry followed a point with a well-taken goal, to really cement the Harps’ position in the game. Scores from Mark Murphy, Ruairí Forde and Brendan McQuaid served to strengthen the grasp on the game by the half-time whistle. Latton rallied throughout the second half, converting two goal chances midway through to reduce the lead. However, the damage had been done in the first half, and key scores from Conor O’Neill and Ciarán McQuaid saw the Harps to a victory. The squad now progress to the shield final off the back of three consecutive wins. This fixture will see the Harps face off against Mattock Rangers, who got the upper hand in round four of the league in mid-May. Throw-in is at 8pm this evening (Thursday) in Carrickmacross. All support is welcome for what should be a closely-contested game.

Team: S McLoughlin, J Lowry, D McAree, A Greenan, J Treanor, N McManus, L Treanor, B McQuaid, C McQuaid, T Croarkin, M Murphy, R Forde, C Sherry, C Power, L Mulligan.

Subs: C O’Neill for McManus, A Mooney for Sherry, S McKenna for B McQuaid, P Murphy for Croarkin. S Conway for M Murphy, P Meehan.

Congratulations: To Adrian and Deirdre on their recent marriage. Wishing them a bright and wonderful future.
