All six starting forwards – Dean Fanning, Lochlainn Power, Shane McMahon, Liam Hahessy, Éimhín Morahan and Gary White – were on target, along with Dylan McKenna, as we built up a healthy advantage. U-11: Well done to our U-11s who represented the club in their Spring League Final against Emyvale in Cloghan last Friday.

Reserves: Last Sunday’s RFL Division 2B fixture was conceded by Corduff. We are due to host Aughnamullen in Division 1B this Sunday at 2pm, before travelling to Aghabog for a Division 2B game on Wednesday at 8pm.

U-17/U-15: The U-17 and U-15 Football Leagues are on a break for the next few weeks.

U-13: Our U-13 teams got the better of Scotstown on Tuesday. Both teams are away to Carrickmacross this Saturday: Division One at 12 noon, Division Five at 1.30, before hosting Donaghmoyne in another double-header next Tuesday evening.

County: Well done to the Monaghan senior team on their win last weekend. Hard luck to Fearghal McMahon, who kicked two points as London exited the All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

Cúl Camp: The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp returns to Gavan Duffy Park from July 8-12.

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

Hurling: Senior: Our seniors were at home to a previously unbeaten Castleblayney side last Thursday evening. Castleblayney came into the game following six straight wins, while the Harps had somewhat struggled to find form throughout the Silver Hill Foods Development League to date, opening with two wins, before disappointingly losing the next three games. The Harps did, however, come into the game off the back of a good performance against Latton and duly backed that up with another dominant display. From the off, the Harps set the tone and were the more creative side. A Conor O’Neill point from half-way opened the scoring, and the 0-6 to 0-2 half-time scoreline also reflected the home side’s commanding defensive display. The Harps carried this form into the second half, stretching their lead to eight points with a great Ciarán McQuaid score from play in the 52nd minute, before the side somewhat tired in the final ten minutes. This allowed Blayney to come into the game and they scored 1-3 without reply, 1-2 of which came from close-range frees. However, the Harps were able to raise their performance one more time and prevented any Blayney opportunity of a levelling score to win on a 0-11 to 1-7 scoreline. The Harps needed a win in order to have a chance of overtaking Clontibret in fourth position. Based on head-to-head records, however, a Clontibret win prevented this from happening and pushed them into second place. Such is the competitive nature of the Development League, having beaten the top two teams in the league stages, the Harps finish fifth and earn a home semi-final in the shield against Latton, which will take place this evening (Thursday) at 8pm.

Team: S McLoughlin; J Lowry, D McAree, A Greenan; J Treanor, N McManus, L Treanor; B McQuaid, C McQuaid; T Croarkin, M Murphy, C O’Neill; C Sherry, L Mulligan, R Forde.

Subs: S McKenna for Mulligan, P Murphy for O’Neill.

Ladies: Well done to our U-12s, who defeated Truagh by 9-7 to 3-9 in a terrific game of football. Well done also to everyone involved in last Sunday’s GoGames blitz for U-10 girls at Gavan Duffy Park, which featured the Harps, Truagh, Aghabog, Magheracloone and Seán McDermotts.
