All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Qualifiers Round 2
Monaghan v Armagh, Saturday, 7.00, Clones
Monaghan have another local derby in the All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers when Armagh make the short trip to Clones on Saturday evening.
Both of these teams exited the Ulster race by losing to Cavan, with Armagh’s coming after a replay at the semi-final stage. Kieran McGeeney’s side had previously come out on the right side of a extra-time thriller against Down. Monaghan did get back to winning ways at the expense of Fermanagh last time out.
Monaghan had earlier stayed up in Division One of the Allianz NFL despite a challenging campaign, while Armagh finished mid-table in Division Two.
Monaghan will need big performances from the likes of Conor McManus, Kieran Hughes, Ryan Wylie, Rory Beggan and Fintan Kelly. Jarlath Óg Burns, Stefan Campbell, Rian O’Neill, Jamie Clarke and Niall Grimley should play central roles for Armagh.
