Seniors: We fell to a narrow defeat in a good contest at home to Magheracloone in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League last Friday. Points from Éimhín Morahan, Liam Hahessy, Shane Smyth and Michael Galligan got us off to a good start, but Magheracloone hit back with a burst before half-time to claim a 1-7 to 0-9 lead. Shane McMahon came on to hit 1-1 and with Liam and Éimhín adding to their tallies, we stayed in touch in a keenly-contested game, but Magheracloone finished on the right side of a 1-17 to 1-13 scoreline.

Reserves: We had a good win away to Killanny in the RFL Division 1B last Sunday. Goals by Evan Doherty and Luke Coyle and points from Niall McManus, Dylan McKenna, Conor Duffy and Shane McMahon put us in a commanding position by half-time. Killanny gradually ate into our ten-point lead during the second half to set up a tight finish, but with Niall Treanor and Peter Coyle managing to share a clean sheet at one end and Evan and Luke adding further goals at the other end, we secured a win that was harder earned than the 4-14 to 0-14 scoreline suggested.

Minors: We returned to winning ways in the U-17 Football League Division One last Tuesday evening after an exciting game away to Donaghmoyne. We started slowly, but worked our way into the game, with a hat-trick of goals from Terence McDonald turning the game in our favour as we earned a six-point half-time lead. Eoghan McGinnity, Shay Cooney, Jake Power, James Curley, Nathan Lavery and Adam McGarry were also on target for our lads, who put in a strong team performance to sign off on the first half of the league with a 3-16 to 3-13 win.
Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Cathal Nally, Tiarnán O’Rourke, James Curley (0-1); James McKenny, Liam Conway, Kevin Moran; Nathan Lavery (0-1), Dylan Ballantine; Adam McGarry (0-1), Eoghan McGinnity (0-5, 3f), Dean Doherty (Capt.); Shay Cooney (0-4, 3f), Terence McDonald (3-3), Jake Power (0-1).
We now face into a break from U-17 league games until July.
U-15: Our U-15 Division One team lost out at home to a strong Carrickmacross side last Wednesday. Carrickmacross proved too powerful for our lads’ best efforts as the visitors ran out convincing winners.
Team and scorers: Oisín Reilly; Mark Clerkin, Jake McConnon, Dáire Conlon; Karol Parszywka, Jordan Crampton, Shane Moran; Gary Devlin, Shea Swift (0-1); Fionán Ó Gallchóir (0-4, 2f), Luke McManus (0-1), Senan Cudden; Seán Callan, Eoin O’Hanlon (1-1), Josh Kelly.
Sub used: Ethan Ballantine.
Our Division Four team had a good contest at home to St. Mary’s Na Mullaí on Thursday. Our lads started brightly, but the amalgamated away team finished strongly to claim the points on a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-13. We wish Fionán Ó Gallchóir a speedy recovery from his injury.

The exam break is now in place until late June.
U-13: Our U-13 Division One team had a hard-earned win at home to Truagh on Monday evening. This game was much tighter than our eventual ten-point winning margin suggested. Jack Lynch and John McCrystal led our scoring as the Harps made a strong start and although Truagh rallied, a Dónal Moran goal and a point from Eoin Sheridan had our lads ahead by 3-5 to 2-4 at half-time. A Kyle Cooney point was our only score for a lengthy spell of the second half, as Truagh cut their deficit to the minimum and could have taken the lead but for some strong defending and a couple of good saves by James Gunn. Having weathered the storm, the Harps finished the game on top, with Jack, Dara Mullin and John adding scores to secure a 6-8 to 2-10 win.
Team and scorers: James Gunn; Mark Lynch, Fergal Magee; Shea Corrigan, Ethan McCaffrey, Julian Coyle; Jack Lynch (3-3), Kyle Cooney (0-1f); Orin Doherty, Eoin Sheridan (0-1), Dónal Moran (1-0); John McCrystal (1-3), Dara Mullin (1-0).
Subs used: Rhys McCaffrey, Daniel Alexis.

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now overdue but can still be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment is removed from the pitch after training sessions.
Hurling: U-15: Our U-15 team face Belnaleck in a home fixture next Monday evening. Throw-in at 7.30pm.
Senior: We faced Carrickmacross last Thursday evening. After a slow start, we made our mark on the game with a couple of great scores from Mark Murphy. We brought the game back to a two-point deficit at the start of the second half, but following an incident that saw us reduced to 14 men and a fortuitous goal for Carrick, we lost our foothold in the game. Carrick made good use of their spare man to finish strongly.
