Reserves: We exited the RFC Crawley Cup with a disappointing defeat away to Doohamlet in last Friday’s quarter-final. Niall Greenan and Evan Doherty were among our scorers in a bright start, but Doohamlet pulled away with a blitz of scores before half-time. Nathan O’Donoghue got a goal back for us in the second half, with Niall, Evan, Oisín Fagan and Brendan McQuaid also on target, but Doohamlet continued to rack up the scores at the other end to book their place in the last four.

Team: Dylan McAree; Conor Duffy, Conn O’Hanlon, Conor Campbell; Conor Devlin, Carl Foentjies, Rory Sleator; Ben Kearns-Flynn, Peter Coyle; Conor Callan, Niall Greenan (Capt.), Oisín Fagan; Nathan O’Donoghue, Evan Doherty, Colm Shalvey.

Subs: Luke Coyle for Campbell, Dessie McGarry for McAree (inj.), Brendan McQuaid (0-1) for Shalvey.

We host Clones in the RFL Division 2B on Wednesday at 8pm.

Minors: We hosted Latton in the U-17 Football League Division One on Tuesday, May 14. This was a close contest throughout, where a goal from Dean Doherty and points by Eoghan McGinnity, Terence McDonald, Liam Conway and Adam McGarry had us in a narrow lead, only for a Latton goal just before half-time to level it up at 1-7 apiece. Scores were hard earned in the second half, with Eoghan, Terence and Shay on the mark as we stayed level until the closing stages, before a late burst earned Latton a 2-14 to 1-12 win.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Cathal Nally, Tiarnán O’Rourke, Kevin Moran; James Curley, James McKenny, Liam Conway (0-1); Nathan Lavery, Dylan Ballantine; Adam McGarry (0-1), Eoghan McGinnity (0-4f), Dean Doherty (Capt., 1-0); Terence McDonald (0-4, 1f), Shay Cooney (0-2f), Jake Power.

Subs used: Joshua Clerkin, Josh Maguire.

U-15: Our U-15 Division One team had a hard-earned win away to Clontibret last Thursday. In an entertaining contest, our lads had a narrow lead at half-time, which they maintained through to the end despite a couple of rallies from Clontibret. Gary Devlin, Eoin O’Hanlon, Luke McManus, Fionán Ó Gallchóir and Josh Kelly were among our scorers in a 5-9 to 3-11 win.

Team: Oisín Reilly; Mark Clerkin, Jake McConnon, Gregory O’Connell; Shane Moran, Jordan Crampton, Karol Parszywka; Gary Devlin, Shea Swift; Eoin O’Hanlon, Luke McManus, Senan Cudden; Seán Callan, Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Josh Kelly.

Subs: Ethan Ballantine, Dáire Conlon, Ali Galligan.

Schools: Congratulations to Shay Kelly, Max Mallen, Oisín Treanor and the Coláiste Oiriall U-13.5 team on their win in the Ulster Schools Mallon Cup Final!

Various: Our own Helen Scott is raising funds for The Friends of St. Luke’s. The money raised will go to the cancer treatment centre in Dublin and donations can be made via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/helen-scott52.

Thanks to Enda and Mary Galligan for their good work in maintaining the patio garden at Gavan Duffy Park.

Best wishes to Owen Connell who joined family and friends for his recent retirement/birthday celebration in our clubhouse.

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now overdue but can still be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

Hurling: Senior: We travelled to face Mattock Rangers last Thursday evening. In our previous fixture it was a slow start that cost us and once again after starting in a similar fashion, we found ourselves three points down at half-time. We brought the game back to one score in the second half, but we eventually fell short by four points. A second-half penalty that was saved and some wayward shooting eventually cost us two valuable points.

Team and scorers: Seamus McLoughlin; Dylan McAree, Conor Devlin; Cónall Mc Kenna, John Treanor, Anthony Greenan; Maurice McKenna (0-6), Brendan McQuaid (0-1); Luke Mulligan, Ruairí Forde, Ciarán McQuaid; Conor O’Neill, Lee Treanor.

Subs: Andrew Mooney for Mulligan.
