Ulster Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final
Cavan 1-13 Monaghan 0-12 18/5/19
Monaghan are set for another local derby against Fermanagh in the All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers after exiting the Ulster race with this defeat away to Cavan.
Monaghan were always facing an uphill battle in this clash after a slow start that allowed Cavan to race into a six-point lead, helped by a penalty that Martin Reilly converted. The hosts were still well clear at half-time (1-8 to 0-4) and although Monaghan rallied to cut their deficit to three, they couldn’t find the goal they needed to turn the result in their favour.
Monaghan have now been drawn to host Fermanagh in a Round 1 Qualifier on Saturday, June 8.
