GR8 Go Games Football U9 Monster Blitz – A HUGE SUCCESS!

Last Saturday, April 13th, Monaghan Coaching & Games organised a GR8 Go Games U9 Football Monster blitz, which took place at the Entekra Centre of Excellence in Cloghan. It was a bitterly cold and windy day in Cloghan but that didn’t deter the brave souls who turned out in force to make Saturday a successful day. The blitz was split into two time-slots which took place from 9:30-11:30am & 12:30-2:30pm. The first time-slot was attended by 14 clubs with 28 teams & over 250 children playing Go Games. The second time-slot was attended by 13 clubs with 19 teams & over 170 children playing Go Games. Over the course of the two time-slots, 27 clubs, 47 teams & over 420 kids played Gaelic Football. This was a huge success and great to see so many kids, coaches and parents in Cloghan on the Saturday.

Clubs who participated included Donaghmoyne, Emyvale, Aughnamullen, Castleblayney, Corduff, Scotstown, Magheracloone, Inniskeen, Carrickmacross, Truagh, Killanny, Monaghan Harps, Tyholland, Doohamlet, Aghabog, Latton, Sean McDermotts, Killeevan, Eire Og, Rockcorry, Currin, Blackhill, Oram, Clones, Clontibret, Ballybay & Drumhowan.

Even with the conditions on Saturday, the skill level on show over the course of the Go Games was a joy to watch. Great to see our young kids using both feet, some great handling skills and point scoring of the highest order. Well done to all involved.

Firstly a huge thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day. From the stewards  who controlled the traffic, organised parking and kept the surroundings safe for anyone attending on Saturday. Also a huge thanks to Charlene & Sonya who organised the shop on Saturday. The soup, tea and coffee was much needed due to the cold weather. A big thanks also to our County PRO Majella Boyd for taking team photo’s & action photo’s throughout the day.

Huge thanks to GR8 for their continued support of the Go Games.

Finally, we would just like to thank the Young Whistlers who officiated on the day. They done a brilliant job.

The next date for the U9 Go Games is club hosted blitzes on April 27th. Please see below groups and time for blitz on April 27th. Team in red host the blitz.
