Seniors: We start the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League with a home game against Corduff this Saturday at 5pm. Good luck to Paddy Kelly, Ryan Mellon, Steven Creighan and everyone involved. Please support!
Handball: Congratulations to Eoghan McGinnity, who became Monaghan’s first minor All-Ireland handball champion with a great win in Kingscourt last Saturday.
Reserves: We fell to a 2-14 to 1-11 defeat away to Ballybay in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1B last Saturday. Scores by Gary White, Luke Coyle and Nathan O’Donoghue got us off to a bright start, but Ballybay pushed ahead with a brace of goals before half-time. Our reserves battled back during the final quarter, with John Mulligan scoring a fine goal, but Ballybay held on.

Minors: The new U-19 Football League starts this Sunday with a home game against Truagh at 2pm. In the U-17 Football League, our rescheduled first game is now set for Tuesday week, April 9. Check online for fixture details.
U-15: The start of the U-15 Football Leagues has also been delayed. Division Four is due to get underway on Thursday, April 4, followed by Division One a week later.
U-13: Next up for our U-13s is a Division One/Division Five double-header at home to Castleblayney this Saturday at 12 noon and 1.30pm.
U-11: Our U-11s started the Spring League away to Castleblayney last Saturday, with their next games set for Saturday week (April 6).
Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now due to be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.
Dates to remember: The 25th anniversary party for the club’s Lotto is planned for April 28. The Intermediate Football League starts this Saturday at home to Corduff. Our Saturday-morning coaching for juveniles is due to kick off in early April. Darkness into Light will take place for a sixth time in Monaghan on May 11, 2019.
County: Good luck to the Monaghan minor and U-16 teams against Down in Castleblayney this Saturday. Well done to the county seniors for retaining Division One status.
Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.
Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are currently being finalised. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.
Coaching: We have been running a coaching programme in local primary schools. Thanks to Coaching Officers Martin Sheridan and Mel McMorrow and the coaches involved in getting this up and running.
Ladies: All-Ireland semi-final success: Congratulations to Coláiste Oiriall on their win last week in the Post-Primary Schools U-16 All-Ireland semi-final. Monaghan Harps ladies were well represented with four girls on the panel. Well done to Áine Duffy, Kayla McCarron, Dearbhla Gallagher and Scarlett Herron.
U-14s: Best of luck to the U-14s in their Division Two Championship semi-final at home to Truagh next Wednesday (April 3) @ 6.30pm. This squad have been training hard since the middle of January so please make every effort to come out and support them. Once again thanks to Seán Ward for sponsoring this squad a set of jerseys recently.
Scholarships: Coiste Cultúir & Gaeilge Coiste Chontae Mhuineacháin is offering scholarships for young people to attend Cúrsaí Gaeltachta during the summer of 2019. All members of Monaghan Harps are eligible to apply. Application forms are available from the resources section of www.monaghangaa.ie. All applications to be forwarded to Oifigeach Cultúrtha, Cláirsigh Mhuineacháin, 9 Old Park Court, Muineachán by April 8, 2019. A scholarship is also available this year for a family to attend a Gaeltacht course for a week. Expressions of interest to Oifigeach Cultúrtha as well.
