Monaghan Harps notes

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 5, 9, 27 and 28. Jackpot of €1,100 not won. Jackpot for Sunday, December 2 is €1,200 and Ann and Kevin Treanor are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which has now played a critical role in our club’s funding for almost 25 years. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

 

AGM: The senior club AGM took place in the clubhouse last Thursday night. Jimmy Croarkin and Val Forde welcomed everyone, before presenting the Chairman’s Address and Secretary’s Report, both giving an overview of another busy year, while Dermot Coyle presented a detailed finance report and praised everyone involved in raising money for the club. Sub-committee reports were delivered by Rose Donnelly (Lotto); Adrian Gunn (Juveniles); John Hahessy (Ground Development); Joe Ó Gallchóir (Culture); Martin Sheridan (Health & Wellbeing) and Eugene McGinnity (Handball). The following committee was elected for 2019: Chairman: Jimmy Croarkin; Vice-Chairman: Mel McMorrow; Treasurer: Dermot Coyle; Assistant Treasurers: Charlie Shalvey & Rose Donnelly; Registrar: Kevin Treanor; PRO: Colm Shalvey; Development Officer: John Hahessy; Youth Officer: Brenda Lambe; Coaching Officers: Mel McMorrow & Martin Sheridan; Cultural Officer: Joe Ó Gallchóir; Health & Wellbeing Officer: Úna Forde: Insurance Officer: Ann Treanor; County Board delegate: Fergus Coyle. The positions of Secretary and Children’s Officer were deferred to the December club meeting. Thanks to all our committee members, all who attended and everyone who contributes to the club on an ongoing basis. Thanks to all outgoing club officers and to those who have taken up these roles on the committee.

 

Scór: Comhghairdeas to the following who represented Monaghan Harps at the county finals of Scór na nÓg in Tullycorbet last Saturday: Orrin Ó Dochartaigh, Esme Ní Dhochartaigh, Kelsey Nic an tSaoi, Sophie Nic an tSaoi, Lucy Ní Bhriain, Charlie Ó Briain, Eoin Mac Cléire,  Dearbhla Ní Ghallchóir, Donna Ní Threasaigh, Orla Ní Chorragáin,  Diarmuid Ó Ríordáin,  Rachel Ní Leannáin,  Oisín Ó Raghallaigh, Mark Ó Cleirchín, Ellen Nic Dónaill, Erica Nic Dónaill, Fionán Ó Gallchóir, Ally Nic Cearáin, Ethan Mac Cearáin, Mark Ó Corragáin,  Scarlett Ní Earáin, Aoibhínn Ní Chraoibhínn, Dearbhla Ní Mhearáin, Shane Ó Móráin, Hannah Mac Uaid,  Caoimhe Ní Néill agus Amy Nic Dónaill. All acts performed very well and took four county titles, with winning performances in Ballad Group, Drama, Recitation and Group Music. Monaghan Harps was named Best Overall Club. The winning acts now represent Monaghan at the Ulster semi-final in Silverbridge, Co Armagh this Saturday, December 1, at 4pm.  Thanks to all the tutors who worked with all participants over the last few months. Tá súil againn go n-éirí go geal leis an chumann ar an Satharn in Ard Mhacha.

 

Tráth na gCeist: Muineachán le Gaeilge hosted a bilingual Tráth na gCeist in our clubhouse last Friday. Thanks to everyone who attended!

 

Sympathy: At our AGM, a vote of sympathy was passed to the family of the late David Clerkin. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

 

Coaching: Upcoming coaching development being run by Monaghan GAA include two workshops in early January. Coaches are asked to please contact Noreen McMorrow if interested.

 

Schools: Best wishes to all the club players currently representing schools teams. We have eight players on the St. Macartan’s College, Monaghan senior panel that has started their MacRory Cup campaign with a brace of wins, as well as several on the Sem side currently awaiting the Rannafast Shield Final.

 

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.
