AIB ULSTER CLUB SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL.
Scotstown 1-14, Eoghan Rua Coleraine (Derry) 2-10.
Rory Beggan has scored some spectacular and valuable points in his career with both Scotstown and Monaghan, but his injury time winner for his club on Sunday last in Omagh is right up there at the very top, as it catapulted Scotstown into the Ulster club senior championship final in dramatic fashion and sent the Derry champions Eoghan Rua Coleraine, home broken hearted at the end of an absorbing contest that built to an exhilarating finish in Healy Park. With seven minutes of normal time remaining the Derry champions held a three points lead thanks largely to a goal early in the second half but just when they looked to be down and out Scotstown resurrected their prospects as they hit four unanswered points in the final three minutes of normal time and the five minutes of stoppage time that were added, Beggan’s late dramatic strike almost the last kick of the game to send the Scotstown supporters in a bumper crowd into a frenzy of celebration, with Beggan the hero of the hour.
