U-17: Our U-17s had a fine win in their Division One league semi-final at home to Inniskeen last Sunday. 1-1 from Luke Coyle and two points each by Eoghan McGinnity and Dylan Ballantine got our lads off to a strong start and although Inniskeen stayed in touch, with the gap at just a goal after 20 minutes, a quick burst of 1-1 from Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh and a fine point by Nathan Lavery made it 2-7 to 0-6 in our favour at half-time. Eoghan kicked the first score of the second half and with Ógie adding a hat-trick of points, our lead stretched, although Inniskeen had a chance to close the gap when they won a penalty. Daragh Croarkin’s save started a swift counter-attack, however, which saw Dean Doherty fire home our third goal. Further majors followed from Ógie and Mujtaba Gamal, while four points by Eoghan and one apiece from dominant midfielders Lochlainn Power and Lorcan O’Rourke sealed a win on a scoreline of 5-17 to 1-10. Our U-17s will now contest the Division One league final against Latton, which is due to be played this Sunday in Emyvale at 1.30pm. All support welcome.
