By Majella Boyd Fri 26th OctLargy College received some fantastic news on Thursday October 25th when it was announced that 6th Year student Maeve Monaghan was selected on the Ulster Ladies All Star team for 2018 / 2019. Maeve is the first student from Largy College to receive a Schools All Star Award.
Maeve took part in two trials where over 130 girls from across the province attended. Maeve’s excellent tenacious work rate, skill and determination impressed the selectors and she was chosen as one of the 30 players on the Ulster All Star Team.
Maeve is the daughter of Michael and Melanie Monaghan from Smithboro. Maeve plays her club football with Emmet Óg. Maeve played a vital role in midfield with Emmet Óg this year as they won the Intermediate Championship for the first time. Maeve will line out for her club on November 4th in the Ulster Club Intermediate Final. 2018 has been an incredible year for this student. Not only having success at club level but Maeve also made her debut on the Monaghan Ladies Senior County Team in August where she lined out corner back against Cork.
Maeve will receive her award at a special ceremony in Kelly’s Inn Ballygawley after Christmas and will train with the Ulster All Star panel in the coming weeks in preparation for the Interprovincial tournament in Kinnegad, Westmeath in January.
