Monaghan Harps notes

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 18, 19, 25 and 27. Jackpot of €4,300 not won. Jackpot for Sunday, October 28 is €4,400 and Maria and Hugh McKenna are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which plays a critical role in our club’s funding. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

 

Schools: Congratulations to Gaelscoil Ultain, who won the Cumann na mBunscol Division One title (Frank McGinn Cup) for the first time ever after a 5-11 to 3-9 victory over Castleblayney BNS in the final last Saturday. A special word for the Harps’ members Joe Mac Giolla Ghunna, Shea Ó Corragáin, James Mac Giolla Ghunna, Orrin Ó Dochartaigh, John Mac Criostáil, Dara Ó Maoláin, Dónal Ó Móráin, Shay Ó Luain, Oisín Ó Branagáin, Diarmuid Mag Fhionnachtaigh, John Ó hAinle, Rhys Mac Cafraidh, Rohann Malocca Mac Cionna, Daithí Ó Doibhlin and Jack Mac Mathúna. Good luck to all Harps players competing in Ulster Schools competitions.

 

Seniors: We are due to play away to Ballybay in the final round of the Shoe City Senior Football League this Sunday at 3pm.

 

Fun Day: Please ensure that any outstanding Balloon Race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin ASAP.

 

U-17: Our U-17s now await the league Division One semi-final, with date and opposition to be confirmed.

 

Scór na bPáistí: Congratulations to all the children who represented the club in Scór na bPáistí in Clontibret last Saturday. Monaghan Harps took first place in the Rince Foirne and Instrumental Music. The club took second place in Recitation and Solo Singing and third place in the Quiz and Solo Singing. Thanks to all our representatives and to their parents and tutors. The club’s representatives were Sarah Ní Raghailligh, Emily Nic Fhionnataigh, Lucy Ní Bhriain, Charlie Ó Briain, Kelsey Nic an tSaoi,  Sophie Nic an tSaoi,  Orrin Ó Dochartaigh, Esme Ní Dhochartaigh, Dearbhla Ní Mhearáin,  Fionn Ó Mearáin, Ciara Ní Ríordáin, Grace Ní Leanáin, Kerri Ní Leanáin, John Mac Criostáil, Jack Mac Mathúna, James Mac Giolla Ghunna, Fern Ní Thréinfhir, Shea Ó Corragáin, John Ó hAinle, Jasmine Nic Amhalaí, Aoife Nic Aonghusa, Isabelle de Búrca, Alex Nic Cionna, Arianna Nic Cionna and John Ó hAinle.

 

Scór concert: Please keep free Sunday, November 11 at 7pm for our Scór concert in the clubhouse. All our competitors from Scór na bPáistí and our representatives in Scór na nÓg, which takes place on 17 November in Threemilehouse, will provide entertainment on the night.

 

Sympathy: The club sends sympathy to Patsy Kierans and family on the death of his brother, Tommy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

 

AGMs: The club’s Annual General Meetings have been scheduled as follows: Thursday, November 15 (Juvenile) and Thursday, November 22 (Senior).

 

Coaching: Upcoming coaching courses being run by Monaghan GAA include Foundation and Level 1 at the end of November. Coaches are asked to please contact Noreen McMorrow if interested.

 

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.
