RIP: There was widespread shock and sadness last week at the death of Theresa McCaughey. Theresa was a well-respected and valued member of the Harps Ladies Club’s committee for many years and both men’s and ladies’ club members formed a guard of honour at her Funeral on Saturday. Theresa’s son Mark is a former Harps player, while her daughters Donna-Marie and Michelle are both former players and Clara is a current playing member. We send our sympathies to Theresa’s children and the wider McCaughey family on their sad loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Gavan Duffy Park: We host the Maguire International MFC Division Two Final Replay between Doohamlet and Seán McDermotts this Saturday at 4.30pm, followed by the Eurotech JFL Shield Final between Oram and Scotstown on Sunday at 2.30pm. All help appreciated.

Meetings: The club’s monthly meetings for October take place this evening (Thursday) in the clubhouse: juvenile at 7pm, senior at 8.

Fun Day: Please ensure that any outstanding Balloon Race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin ASAP.

Seniors: We lost out away to Castleblayney under lights in the Shoe City Senior Football League last Friday night. A Michael Galligan point was all we could manage from our first-half possession, while Blayney hit 1-8 after a strong finish to the half. We competed better after the restart, with Éimhín Morahan, Michael, Kevin Loughran, Stephen Driver and Francis Lynch on target, but Blayney ran out winners by 1-13 to 0-9.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Niall Ward, Aidan Burns, Mustafa Gamal; Jamie Shields, Neil McAdam, Thomas Croarkin; Dylan McKenna, Aodhán Óg McAnespie; Kevin Loughran (0-2), Éimhín Morahan (0-3, 2f), Nicholas Scott (Capt.); Michael Galligan (0-2, 1f), Stephen Driver (0-1), Francis Lynch (0-1).

Subs: Dean Fanning for Croarkin, Colm Shalvey for Gamal, Seán Conway for Shields.

U-17: Our U-17s resume their league campaign away to Inniskeen this Sunday at 11am.

Coaching: Upcoming coaching courses being run by Monaghan GAA include Foundation and Level 1 at the end of November. Coaches are asked to please contact Noreen McMorrow if interested .
