The MFC Division Two Final will have to be replayed after Doohamlet and Seán McDermotts finished all-square in Scotstown last Sunday.
Seán McDermotts were on top during the first half, but they kicked 11 wides while playing with the wind at their backs and although Jack O’Hanlon kicked three points, their lead was down to the minimum at half-time (0-6 to 1-2), with a Jason Irwin goal keeping Doohamlet in touch. Points from Irwin and Oisín O’Neill helped bring Doohamlet back on level terms after the restart, even after Shane McClave hit the net for the Seáns.
Oisín McKenna twice edged the Seáns ahead late on, after they had James Clerkin sent off, but Cillian Walshe and Seán Markey earned Doohamlet another chance. The replay is set for Gavan Duffy Park, Monaghan next Saturday (October 13).
