Maguire International Minor Football Championship Division One Final Replay

Inniskeen 5-15 Carrickmacross 1-8                                                   21/10/18

Inniskeen won their first MFC Division One title since 1964 in stunning style in last Sunday’s replay against Carrickmacross in Clontibret. Inniskeen hit the net barely 20 seconds after the throw-in to set the tone for a dominant performance, where they led from start to finish, in contrast to the drawn game two weeks earlier.

With Andrew Woods and Seán Jones alternating between full-forward and midfield, Inniskeen had the game’s star performers, as the former matched his four points with an impressive aerial display and the latter bagged 2-8 to claim the Man-of-the-Match award. Shane and Christopher Hanratty, Dylan Mulholland (who hit 2-1) and Callum Quigley were among many more Inniskeen players to make an impression as they powered to a convincing victory. With Donnach Swinburne again kicking five points and Niall Bermingham scoring a late consolation goal, Carrick matched their tally from the drawn game, but they couldn’t get to grips with the Grattans’ attack.
