McElvaney’s Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship Semi-Final
Seán McDermotts 2-14 Tyholland 1-12 6/10/18
Seán McDermotts are in their first IFC Final since 2002 after they finished strongly to get through this north-Monaghan derby in Castleblayney last Saturday. Dermot Coyle was in accurate form throughout for Tyholland and his penalty put them a goal to the good entering the last ten minutes, but the Seáns found the net twice in quick succession. Niall Kearns, who finished with 1-7 saw a long-range effort go all the way to the net and he was involved again when Paddy Kieran fired home a crucial second major for the Threemilehouse side, who will now contest their fifth final since 2016 between the Junior and Intermediate ranks.
